Post here any lyrics which you have at some point in your life mistook for different lyrics OR lyrics which you think other people may have mistaken

I'll start with some obvious ones:

Jimi Hendrix - Purple Haze: "Scuse me while I kiss this guy" which is really "Scuse me while I kiss the sky"

The Beatles - Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds: "The girls with colitis go by" which is really The girl with kaleidoscope eyes"

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Down on the Corner: "You don't need a pin head just to hang around" which is really "You don't need a penny just to hang around"

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Proud Mary: "People on the river are happy to kill" which is really People on the river are happy to give"

I'll follow up with more later.....looking forward to yours, I always get a great laugh.

Van Morrison - "Astral Weeks"

I've heard people say he's singing, "I got a hormone high" near the end, but it's actually "I got a home on high."

Louie Louie - The Kingsmen's version (one of over supposedly 1500). Widely thought to be "dirty" due to the largely indecipherable singing. Not obscene in any way...except for the John Belushi Animal House version. Absence of obscenity confirmed via the thorough 2 year investigation by the FBI following an obscenity complaint. The final FBI judgment was "unintelligible at any speed".

More info at louielouie.net and another Louie Louie site here.

Lyrics of the song, written by Richard Perry below.

Louie, Louie, oh, oh, me gotta go
Louie, Louie, oh, oh, me gotta go

Fine little girl she waits for me
Me catch the ship for cross the sea
Me sail the ship all alone
Me never think me make it home

Louie, Louie...

Three nights and days me sail the sea
Me think of girl constantly
On the ship I dream she there
Me smell the rose in her hair

Louie, Louie...

Me see Jamaica moon above
It won't be long, me see my love,
I take her in my arms and then
Me tell her I never leave again

Louie, Louie...

Beatles: "Here, There, and Everywhere"

The actual line is "And if she's beside me I know I need never care".
I thought it was: And if she's beside me I know I need Medicare".

Blondie: "Heart of Glass"

The actual line is: "Yeah, riding high on love's true bluish light"
I thought it was: "Yeah, riding high, I'm in love with a Jewish guy".

Your Love - Outfield

3rd Verse

What i hear: "just cuz you're under (underage?) don't mean i'm wrong"

What lyrics say: "just cuz you're right - that don't mean i'm wrong"

I've listened to the record while reading the lyrics, and i don't see how they get what they've posted. I'm sticking to my guns on this one.

Radiohead - Life in the glasshouse.

Maybe it was just me but it sounded like he was saying this:

Well of course I'd like to sit around and chat,
Well of course I'd like to stay and chew a friend.

Apparently its actually:

Well of course I'd like to sit around and chat,
Well of course I'd like to stay and chew the fat.

Bruce Springsteen -- "Blinded by the Light"

The actual line is "Revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night", but it often gets mistaken as "Wrapped up like a ******..."

the jimi hendrix purple haze lyric is prob the most popular misunderstood...the funny thing is before i heard it was misundterstood as "kiss this guy", I heard it for its real lyric, but now i keep thinking its "kiss this guy", would have been better off without hearing about it
