Hey everyone! This thread is for those who crave the wonderful sounds that lie in the midrange frequencies. Feel free to discuss anything midrange centric, such as IEM's, headphones, music, amps, DAP's, speakers, etc...

Please suggest more midrange centric IEM's, headphones, DAP's and AMP's so I can add them to the list! Thanks.

I'll jump on the midrange bandwagon. :) Love hearing the vocals shine, and some good guitar/harp plucking.

Bass....some people mix it way too muddy. Treble--ouch my ears as I can't stand shrill sounds! Its like Goldilocks...got to find the one in the middle that is just right! ;)

Also to add to your headphone lists, when I regularly used my Thinksound Rain, they were definitely aimed to show off the mids.

Audeze LCD-2 is mid-range centric, mostly lower mid-range.

I'm not going to say the mid-range is the most important part, because all the parts are important, but the mid-range does have the most music in it. I'd say in that sense I'm a midrangehead.

Do the vintage Stax SR-Lambda normal bias and Koss ESP/950 belong here?

Quotes from an electrostatic faceoff over at Wikiphonia:

"SR-Lambda is an amazing headphone that has a well balanced and somewhat laidback sound. There is a slight forwardness in the midrange but it is in no way aggressive or abrasive, in fact the mids are smooth and have an excellent tone... The midrange is where Lambda shines, it sounds very good with vocal tracks."

"Koss is even more forward in the mids than SR-Lambda. Think of Koss as SR-Lambda on steroids. Well balanced and somewhat laidback, with great tone, but forward mids."

I will go with a amp speaker set up.....it's a cheap 12watt class A tube amp with a set of Klipsh KG 1.5 speakers and a Zune 30 gig 1st gen player. This is my bedroom setup and could benefit greatly with a subwoofer. I don't listen to this often because the wife would rather fall asleep to a tv program but I get my chances when I get to laze around after she gets up.....crtain tracks of vocalks and acoustic guitar make my ears happy for a bit. Much like British sound extremes are not needed.....some bass and some highs at a low to moderate volume give the music all I need....enough detail to seperate the insturments. Sometimes less is more!

 Who doesn't love mids? :)

I like my mids in the background with treble and bass boasted slightly.

(Just kidding) I like my mids slightly boosted. :) I would go insane if the mids is hiding in the background. They are the heart of the song.

Well i don't want it severely lacking just a slight scoop. The scoop is usually in the extremely low mids and midbass.
