aaarrrgh My Melos gold ref just crapped out on me, I think it is part of the warm up circuit that went as the power light does not come up but the leds on the board light up.

Well time to find a tech, I just want to upgrade the sonics on the headphone section what caps are the ones to replace is it just the one inbetween the tubes? I had thought about vcaps or maybe jupiters but I worry about the sability of the jupiter caps in that heated environment.

what kind of noise? Generally when that happens I'd guess loose ground first, that'll cause a buzzing like no other if it's in the right spot...

Go back and re-solder all the grounds.

I stumbled across this today...

If you just go to http://www.melosinnovations.com/, you still just get the front page. Go to that link, and you get what looks like a makeshift home page... but it does have contact information

No, it's not ground noise. Something is slowly oscillating -- likely a leaky cap. It is not clear where it is, but I think I am going to rip out the warm up stuff as it has wires and leads running all over the place (and contains one of the few original caps) and shorten the signal path a bit. I may also take out the input switch for the same reasons.

has anyone tried these guys yet?

I am working on it. I need a replacement front panel for the one USPS buggered up, and I figured they may have dead units lying around they can yank one off of. Sent a letter via snail mail today. Ill update if I hear back.

Is it normal that the melos sha-1 power cable is grounded? Mine is but when I opened the case actually only two cables were connected.

Im thinking of just cutting one of my old power cables and soldering it to the amp, so I don't need an USA->EU adaptor. Is that wise? Is it possible to ground it?

I just recently bought this, and the owner converted it to 230V for me (I got now idea how he did it)

Might have to give him a call and see if I can track down a dead unit through him.
