The Prayer Boat - Polichinelle
Silly band name, I know. They're a band from Ireland that spent something like 6 years working on this album. The lead singer, Emmett Tinley, has a voice like that of Jeff Buckley mixed with Damien Rice. The music is gorgeous, the lyrics are incredible, and it is overall one of the finest albums I've purchased in a long, long time. Here's are 2 mp3s from this album so you can sample it:

You can buy the album for less than 10 cents on ebay.

also, this band is broken up. the lead singers solo debut album is scheduled to come out this summer.

Here's my masterpiece list. I have a lot of favourite recordings but only few deserve the title of masterpiece: Ones without flaws and groundbreaking in their respective genre, or defining their very own genre.

Queensryche - Promised Land (!!!!)
Opeth - Damnation (!!!!)
Dream Theater - Awake (!!!!)
Ayreon - Into The Electric Castle (!!!!)
Keith Jarret - The Köln Concert

I just got Peter Frampton's Frampton Comes Alive 25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition. It comes with 2 CDs (the original had one only) and is quite well done. One of the best live albums ever just got better.

That's a strange combination... they're exact opposites in style

Awake is definitely a masterpiece, if not THE masterpiece of all modern music, but "Train of thought" is like "St. Anger" to me.. oh well, to each his own

Read "if not the (...)" as "maybe even the (...)"

I know that noone can ever judge that because noone will be able to deeply listen to all modern music ever made

But.. if I had to name one masterpiece, and only one, I'd choose awake without hesitation.
