Mostly for the metal heads I suppose, but some others.
Metallica - Master of Puppets - the Orion interlude is beautiful, RIP Cliff.
Dredg - El Cielo - relatively new, but this CD takes me from wherever I am.
In Flames - Colony - it's been said the drums were poorly mixed (by Daniel himself), but I love it. The interlude in Zombie Inc.!
Ayreon - Universal Migrator Part 1. This CD turned me onto Ayreon. I used to put it on to relax me before going to sleep and as a result I think I know tracks 1-4 significantly better than the rest lol, but it's all great.
Strapping Young Lad - SYL. Heaviest... CD... ever (IMO). Sometimes the mix is a bit too "full", but otherwise, rocks out.
Opeth - My Arms, Your Hearse - more for the song writing and moods it creates than the mix. Gotta love the "blips" just when Demon of the Fall goes from heavy to light (not).
Soilwork - The Chainheart Machine - Any of the solo breaks and backing from these songs could be used in a soundtrack.. they take me somewhere else.
Blade Runner OST, Esper Edition (Vangelis) - I'm ON the rainy streets with Deckard.
Kraftwerk - Trans-Europe Express - another great relaxer.
Infected Mushroom - B.P. Empire. Never have I heard guitar and electronica meld so well.
Rush - Moving Pictures
Batman Begins OST (Hans Zimmer & James Newton Howard) - some ripped on it for being too monotonic and complained about the mainly 2 note theme. I think it represents the new (or is that old?) Batman very well.
The Sisters Of Mercy - Floodland, so bad in some ways, so good in others

I've forgotten some but oh well.

Excellent compilation.

Isn't it cheating to use a greatest hits? Anyhow, most masterpiece albums are best taken in context of the entire album ingested all the way through and then saying "damn, that was a good album." imho!

So, maybe saying "Hotel California" by The Eagles would serve better.
