just had a bit of a result there, the parcel is at the local delivery depot, just called parcel force in case i needed  to go down and pay any charges and the nice lady said there were no charges to pay

Wow can't believe you didint get charged, wonder what you did different. Although saying that it's mostly just luck of the draw.

I'm sitting by the window and waiting on a red Parcelforce van to appear with my new awesome HA-S680.

I'll post some pics when it comes.

If I had to give anyone advise on which JVC headphones to purchase at this time from the reviews so far I'd have to go with the HA-S680.
 
From the information I can find you do not want to purchase the HA-S660. To me it looks like a repackaged HA-S600 with different shaped earcups. Which has the worst SQ of any recent offerings from JVC (HA-S600).
 
JVC is probably my favorite headphone manufacturer from a mainstream consumer electronics company. I have owned quite a few of their headphones within the last ten years or so, so I know they can manufacture very good sounding products at particular price points. But they do get it right there offerings can be compared to product 4 to 5 times their price.
 
Just to give you an example that I have on hand, I'll give you a list of JVC models I have at this time and their SQ going from best to worst. Of course this list is my own opinion. This list is for SQ only, comfort build quality are not taken into consideration.
 
HA-S400 > HA-S650  =  HA-RX700 > "Flats" > HA-S600
 
Bought the HA-S600's for  my son (he doesn't listen to them). the sound signature is very bass heavy where it actually takes over the mids and upper regions of frequency spectrum. The HA-650 and HA-RX700 I have to put at an equal level depending on genres of music, for electric music of just about any kind I would use the HA-S650 and for acoustic music the HA-RX700 is wonderful.
 
I hope JVC comes out with a new carbon nanotube diaphragm for the HA-S650 and essentially places it in a black carbon fiber earcups as before, I would believe this would be the ultimate portable headphone.
 
I also purchased some FX40 iem's for my wife a few months ago, she had had them at her office ever since and she says she loves them.
 
So from my past experience purchase the HA-S680's if you can, burn them in for 72 hours and enjoy the music.

picked mine up as well, first impression they look nice but dont like the sound very boomey but hopefully this will improve and sort out after the burn in.  using the method benf advised but on the sansa clip ive gt the volume on max would have liked a bit more but will report back when its had 48 hours

I usually burn on the rockboxed Sansa Clip+, should be fine.
After the diaphragm burn-in, please let your brain burn-in for a few days after that too.

They definitely know how to package stuff well.

EDIT: I'm burning them in as I type this... so far the sound is pretty boomy but this was also true for the S500 so I'm not worried. They are definitely much, much more comfy than the S500 though.

He bought the red one, same as me - the pictures are in the first post.
Ebay will probably be a lot cheaper, and you can ask the seller to lower the package's value to avoid customs.

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on a white pair of these. The only thing that's making me hesitant to get them now is this "boominess" people keep mentioning. I can't stand boominess; it makes music, for me, unlistenable.
 
If I pull the trigger on these they'll be my first JVC 'phone. I hope they'll be at least a slight upgrade from the CAL! (Creative Aurvana Live!). Again, if anyone has both the JVC HA-S680 and the CAL! please tell me how they compare! These cost about the same as the CAL! which are widely considered to be the best bang for your buck sub-$100 cans out there.

Thats what im using i think its a clip +. Will it make a difference if i stop the burn in toinight and give them a listen to try out or is it best to do the 48 hours straight? This is m first proper pair of headphones having only had the cheaper sennheissers px100 & hd218s and a pair of bose ie2 none of which i burnt in at all but not sure if they needed it or not.

Aillas, im not too worried about the boominess at the moment there are a few comments to say that this does go after a burn in and that this was the same for previous models out of the box.

They are comfy and the pads sit on my ears but are not too far off being over ears which i quite like.
