I have the 846; it comes with 2 cables and I removed the memory wire from one of them.  It was easy....

Went to jaben Audition the 650,750 and 850 . Started with 650 and it is amazing . Soundstage is wide and the sound is warm and smooth but when I pop in the 750 I went from amazing to wow! The soundstage is even wider on the 750 and the treble or high frequency all come alive bringing out the clarity of the music and the when I try out the 850 it is a little bit disappointing because I am expecting the music to wow me as much as the 750 . But to me the 850 is like the 650 on steroid enhancing the sound signature on it. The treble or re high frequency range in the 850 is tone down bringing it to sound more like senheisser hd650 which sounds like there is a veil in front of it. Overall all of them is bassy but is controlled and 750 sound different from 650 and 850 with more emphasize on high. Well which one do I choose?? End up I push the button and ordered the 850 at usd290 including shipping. It is definitely a keeper in my collection

Finally bought the 850 today in Tokyo, for the suprisingly low price of 19900 yen, or less than usd$200.  I also got some SpinFit silicons and I would have bought the balanced 2.5-mmcx cable for my AK120ii but they were sold out of the mmcx version.

I was rocking my fxz200 all day, so I`m going to sleep and let my ears rest and give the 850 a serious listening to tomorrow.

JVC does some great work in the iem world. Mid-fi prices with stratospheric-fi performance !

Oh, did I mention my Shure se846 are for sale

Isn`t it nuts ?  Japan often has these crazy low prices, I guess because shops stock such huge numbers of these kinds of things.  My AK120ii was also nuttily cheap (same shop).

I didn`t try the Shure cable because my se846 is for sale and it`s boxed up ready to go.
I really want to try the balanced out from my AK...

I`ve been listening to the 850 all morning and they . . . are . . .

Hey, where did you buy the spinfit tips? I've been hunting high and low but couldn't find any.

Okay, I am super curious about the 850 after trying them out in two different shops here, and loving my current JVC FXZ200s .  As I mentioned, the 850`s price has dropped a lot here since release.  Of course, on the other hand the new/improved is always attractive, so I`ve done a run through of the Japanese sites on the upcoming 1100. I`m still curious about them, but my suspicion is growing that this new flagship may be just a marketing-department creation.  Here are some A-B screen shots with the 850 side-by-side with the 1100, from the JVC page.  I see no difference except for different wood and cable.  On the 1100 page, they`ve highlighted in red that the `wood dome unit has an opening of 11mm`, yet the 850 has the exact same unit, same dimensions.  All the other specs and exploded views look the same to me.

This makes the 850 all the more interesting. 0f course, who knows, maybe the sound sigs are different due to the different wood density or internal shape...

This reminds me of the Ocharaku Type II series. I'll be damned if I can tell what the difference is supposed to be between the new units and their predecessors. Really does feel like something marketing cobbled up. Kinda like when Taco Bell takes a taco and rolls it up in an tortilla and calls it a chimirito or some ****. Or perhaps more accurately, Malibu Stacey - now with new hat!

Here in Tokyo.  And I bought the wrong size; I can`t get a good seal with them, should have bought large.  They weren`t cheap : 840¥ for 4...  About 7 dollars.

The blue silicons in the pics are from Panasonic, my faves from my fxz200.

Man I've been trying to source some of those for forever now. Hope Musica or someone else will start carrying them soon. Do you find the size to be comparable to Ortofons? Where a L = a standard M?
