The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread

U use 1266 in that work? Lol ok...
No. It's just that the metal gets stuck in my hair, shoes, clothing and I wind up tracking it in to my house. But before I get to my listening area, I've showered and put the "affected" clothes in a separate room. Vacuum daily, sheets washed weekly. Seems to be working but I'm not the only one who lives here who works in metal, plus I own 4 cats who can spread the particles all over with their paws if not careful.

They could track a piece or two on your bed and next time you put the TC on, it'll suck up the piece that got stuck in your hair, and now it's permanately compromised until cleaned. That's all it takes unfortunately.

Surprised the shop doesn't provide protective clothing for that type of work.

Yeah...the one saw is open with no guards or vacuum and the control unit is 3ft away with the tiniest plastic guard that only goes chest high and wide Saw flings so much junk at the operator and there is no company-provided PPE for it.

Don't work there anymore. ;D

Usually flagship products don't get the black friday privilege. That's reserved for midranged products like a Sony wireless headphone or an Asus monitor, or even a prebuilt PC. Entirely up to the manufacturer though but that's been my experience buying if they have multiple products from entry to flagship. You can get the cheap stuff cheaper but usually you pay the premium for the top end. I always do a BF discount cuz it encourages customers to spend the big check on me. Heh heh. But I'm a small online shop. Abyss is just goated like that.

Has anyone used woo audio wa23 to drive Abyss 1266 phi tc?
How does this amplifier pair with the 1266 and How does it compare to the AIC10 or HM1 amplifiers?
wa33 elite is too expensive for me

I’ve had the pleasure of picking up some truely great music tips on this thread… things that synergies with the 1266. Now I’ve got a suggestion to repay the favours.

criteria for me include the following:

1. sparkling treble
2. “full” bass sound, no flab but punch. Delineation of the bass subtleties. Not talking boom but texture.
3. pace, rythym and timing… you know what I mean: impact

oh and it has to sound great In terms of its musicality, something you can recognise as your fingers tap on the beach top.

Joseph Tawadros live at the Sydney opera house is one such suggestion that tickles my fancy. Love to know what you think.

best

Tony AAA

I use May + Bliss KTE as a pre atm and I've got a self made banana to 4pin adapter. I'm waiting for a proper one made by a friend of mine who also made my speaker cables to arrive this week. Should be even better.

Got the adapter. Sounds great. If anyone would like one PM me and I can share my mates details. Cost atm is more less 150-200 euro depending on length and components.

Using silver plated 4mm speaker cable. I use the same cable for my speakers and it holds its own against pure silver 10x the cost.

I just realized a few days ago that Abyss has a new 1266 pad and that mine are the old thicker version. Searching the thread didn't give me much information about the new pads. Could someone please provide some impressions regarding both the differences in comfort and sound between the old and new pad versions?

Where are you seeing a new pad for the 1266? The only versions I know of are the original which is a solid leather, thinner pad, the then the pads introduced with the CC, which then carried over to the TC. Thicker deeper pads with perforated exterior. Do you have a link with further info by any chance? Curious.

Mine are brand new, just built a few weeks ago and then sent to me directly from Abyss, and the ear pads are elliptical/oval-ish inner diameter, not a circle.
