Please also let people know you’re coming in the thread - and let the fun banter ensue!

****************Your RSVP will allow us to accommodate your power, space, and seating needs ahead of time.

FAQ

Do I have to bring gear?

Nope. You can just come to listen if you like. If this is your first time- let us know! The community is very welcoming and knowledgeable. Head-Fi meets are great events to try out gear and meet fellow enthusiasts- please just be mindful that you are using someone else’s expensive stuff (treat it carefully, be kind, and be aware of CORDS and CABLES.) Also of note: you are responsible for the gear and personal items you bring- keeping track of them and monitoring their use.

Is there an admission cost?

Free to enter and stay as long as you like.

What should I bring?

Power strips, any gear you are OK letting others audition, extension cords, your favorite shareable snack if you like. There is no alcohol allowed in the event space.

Will there be vendors there?

Yes. ZMF will have our line up on display and we are currently in phone-a-friend mode seeing who of our audio buddies are up for a meet. We will update the thread with a vendor list as that information is available.

Will there be things to buy?

ZMF will have a few things for sale and THERE WILL BE AN AWESOME RAFFLE! The raffle will help us recoup the cost of the space AND is a more equal opportunity way to walk away with some cool gear. Not sure what exactly will be up for raffle yet- but check back!

THE SPACE:

The Fulton Street Collective is a big artists’ collective building in the West Loop/West Town Area of Chicago http://www.fultonstreetcollective.com/. We will have long tables and chairs set out a la any meet you’ve ever been to before. PLEASE BYO extension cords. The building is very secure. When you get to the door you will be buzzed in by the dedicated event staff dude we had to hire. There is a gigantic (and very updated/non-spooky) elevator as you walk all the way in and to your right (there are stairs too.) The space is on the 3rd floor. We will have signage EVERYWHERE with this info so fear not. Photo shows the main room. There is also a smallish green room with couches, a coffee maker, microwave, and refrigerators. There are plenty of spaces for folks to duck out to for socializing without bugging the guy on an electrostatic setup.

THE AREA:

This area offers a TON of places to eat and hang if you want to make a real holiday out of your Sunday. You are local to all of the amazing restaurants on Randolph Street ( Green Street Smoked Meats, Little Goat, Au Cheval) breweries abound ( On Tour, Finch Beer, Goose Island) great coffee is a stone’s throw ( Intelligentsia, Metric, Sip) I could go on--- this is our old neighborhood, so if you want a recommendation, you know who to ask!

QUESTIONS:

Please feel free to ask me, Bevin, “Zach’s Wife” (but so much more!) any question you might have about the meet! Please send your q’s in the form of thread posts, PMs to me @BooUrns , or emails to my dedicated ZMF email: bevin@zmfheadphones.com (just to try to keep it separate from ZMF customer support and inquiry.)

I believe I can make this. Of course the best reason to come is to listen to the Verite' I will win on 11/12. Since it will be a two day trip for me I will probably only bring my LCD-4 for listening to others equipment.

But you'll get to go through the massive wind farm during the drive. That's at least a nice pick-me-up around half way through the journey. :) Did Cincinnati get a Giordano's yet? If not, you can do what I normally do and bring home several frozen pies. That makes the trip even more worthwhile. Just think of it: returning home from Chicago after spending a day listening to a ton of great gear, and on top of that you have 6 frozen Chicago pizzas in tow. MmmMm. Of course, Gio's can't top Pequod's, but what can, really?

Nothing. The answer is nothing can top Pequods.

Sounds like fun! I'm in RI but have wanted to meet up with a friend in Chicago forever so I'll see if I can make this work.

Been a while since I've been able to make it to one of these, but I'm planning on being there. I'll definitely have my RHA MA750 with me and I may try to bring my LCD 2.2f and/or Mr Speakers Mad Dogs.

Wow! That space is beautiful! Wish I could attend.

I will 100% there. I am hoping to try all of ZMF's lineup with my amp/dac combo, intend to sell off everything I own except my amp/dac, and whatever ZMF cans synergy best with my amp/dac I intend to order, will be worth the wait as I intend to retire from the hobby and have an heirloom setup to pass on to future family. I already know the Ori and planar's are not for me, so hoping his new dynamics (I have not heard any yet) will impress me.

Bringing:

Headphones: original version Hifiman HE-400 with brainwavz sheepskin pads, RBH HP-2 Beryllium with ZMF Cowhide pads, Philips SHP-9500 with Brainwavz HM5 pleather pads, Pioneer SE-A1000 with HM5 velour pads, Audio Technica m40x with ZMF Cowhides.
AMP: starving student with 2x USAF GE tubes
DAC: Modi 3

I'll be moving to Chicago 2 weeks before the event, so good timing for me! I'll be bringing my HEX v2, AFO and MCTH in case anyone wants to give them a listen.
That's awesome! Welcome! Sorry about the weather though...
