The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016

Tried the latest update and now my DX50 won't run.  Starts up in a Chinese screen which flashes off again immediately, then nothing.  Tried reinstalling the update but I get a warning about not being able to read or write the update, then DX50 gets thrown off the computer.  Can't seem to hard reset and I've tried the battery trick.  No luck. I'm using a Mac but have never really had anything like this happen before.

If you have access to a computer as mentioned by CoiL I would use batch tool. I will continue to look into this as this is the first time I have read of this and it has never occurred on our test units.

Took some time to read thru last 130+ pages to catch up where I left. Updated to SU 1.3.3 from the ancient 1.2.6. Thanks to folks here for sharing your thoughts and know how making it an easy task. Into the first hour of listening and really enjoying it thru the Cayin C5 and Dunu Titan 1. Cheers.

Leo888, can You please set SU 1.3.3 to flac-only /iir off / cpu default setting and tell me if Cayin C5 shrinks soundstage in any way compared to DX50 HO set @ mid gain? Really interested about it and I`m confused by some reviews claiming that Cayin C5 can make soundstage smaller.

Hi CoiL, done that and imo, there's no shrinkage in soundstage and could be slighty wider and deeper. What I felt, is the C5 giving a tighter and tad more body to the sound. Placements of instruments were also more clearly defined. Thus, it could be a false illusion of a smaller stage due to this slight increase in body of the sound and it took me quite a few songs to realize this. Do take this as a personal perception of mine as some others might not hear it the way I heard it.

There is a link with information on how to use it on the first page of the DX90 thread. This seems to work best for people so we left it that way.

Good to hear about active driver development.
The best i could imagine would be linux drivers or a better Windows driver as i and probably many other DX50 owners would like to use the DX50 under linux.
Is there any software limitation on why only 16bit/48khz is supported in dac mode?
Not that this is a big problem for me, but resampling is required to use it in kernel streaming mode.

Running the new 1.9.2 firmware and find an issue using my external hard drive...the unit scans for media, but just locks up...not every time, but at least 50% of the time. Moved back to 1.3.3 SU and all is well. Note: I did the usual, delete everything, factory reset yada, yada, yada... :)

Forgot to mention about mSD adapters. I couldn`t get those two different cheap adapters to work, same issue with every FW, so it seems more likely the fault of adapter or incompatibility issues with FW/HW.

Just bought this OTG mSD card reader for ~2£ http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400834118919?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Wanted to buy Meenova Dash Micro but couldn`t find it on sale in EU. But I think it will do fine also and I will try to "chop" it even smaller

Update about this mSD card reader - it doesn`t work as it should with DX50. It recognizes all the data on card and I can even play first selected song but as soon as I change album or song, it stops and doesn`t show anything on mSD card anymore. I have tried reformatting card to FAT32 and exFAT but still same problem. Now, I have no idea if this problem is caused by reader itself or SU firmware. It played from USB stick nicely with different OTG adapter. So, I ordered different otg card reader for my 64GB mSDXC. Will keep You all updated.
Still haven`t found place where to buy meenova dash micro from EU.

And about reformatting mSD card, so far 2 programs have been doing exFAT to FAT32 really well and fast. First is http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm and second is https://rufus.akeo.ie/?locale=sr_RS

This time I bought this OTG adapter: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/351169366328?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

unfortunately it behaves same way. I`m starting to think it`s from SU 1.3.3. Need to try official FW to see if problem is in FW. If so then I`m first time littlebit unhappy with SU... but I love the SQ so much that I`m willing to let it be and keep using SU, just have to swap cards.

I have another adapter which I usually use with my camera SD cards but when I use it with SD>mSD adapter-card and connect adapter via USB OTG cable, then everything works without problems.
Anyone has any idea what is difference between those two?:

VS. this one that works via USB OTG cable(http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Micro-B-USB-Host-OTG-Cable-For-Samsung-Micro-USB-Phone-Black-Cable-Adapter-/321746285711?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4ae992b48f):

I really want to solve this "mystery" and this could be helpful to MANY who want to use USB OTG cards!
Paul, can You ask from Your developer team what could be difference between those adapters and what kind of adapter we should use?
