The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016

  DSF files and DFF files:
My dx50 plays dsf but not dff.
I'm using 1.5.0 firmware
Any suggestions?  Thanks!!

Mine does that too. I have tried converting via jriver, but it usually just slows the music down (literally, the music goes at half the speed)

So I've been using my DX50 with a Magni 2 Uber and Alpha Dogs. I noticed that it's slighty boomy and slightly sibilant sounding than the M2U + NFB 15.32(DAC out). Can someone tell me if this is common for the DX50's DAC?

OK let's get to the bottom of this. My dx50 is not sibilant...

I assume you connect the dx50 via 3.5mm to RCA to the Magni2 Uber. Since the headphone out and line out are both controlled by the volume it's important to have the proper volume level on the DX50. Which one do you set. It's should be around 90% or lower of the max volume to not add any clipping or distortion in the line out. At least that's my experience when I connect my DX50 with my sound system in my car. I have te feeling that this could be the reason and can be rectified with the volume setting.

Also, are you in the latest firmware?

Cheers,
K

I always set my DX50 volume to max - 255 when amping, never had any problem with distortion, you may find its actually your car head-deck that cannot support the full signal of DX50's line out rather than the iBasso.

Whatever it is, it does it in both my cars from different vendors with different audio systems. But it doesn't matter, lowering the volume solves my issue and possibly can solve the issue from @Jjacq maybe he will give it a try and it helps.

some car audios can't support ful volume of dx50 line out. I know that on my fathers car, if I go over 250 it begins to clip, while on my car I can go at max 255 and there is no problem. car audios are more geared towards simpler mobile phone or ipod line outs which AFAIK aren't as strong as the one on DX50...

Makes sense to me, I also agree with Koolpep lowering the line-out signal might help the member aboves issue.

With that said I've been tinkering between DX90 headphone out and an amped DX50 these last few days. The results are quite interesting, though I think its more a case of synergy over either one pulling away.

If the question is DX90 worth the upgrade from an amped DX50? The answer is it depends..

Gapless not working sucks. Not using it often so didn't realize it yet. Let's hope there will be a new FW version then.

What about using the DX90 line out with an amp? I know the DX90 has a better DAC and it has one per channel so I figure that will make the sound better on its own.

Basically It's awesome, however providing you're using the right IEM with DX90 its probably not absolutely required.

How do I get to import a playlist into a dx50?

I made a playlist in Musicbee and exported a m3u file. I put it on the dx50 microsd card.  I can browse and see the file but touching the side or the middle of the icon for the file doesn't give me any 'import' options.  Its so hard to make playlists in the dx50 but easy externally so I'd much rather do external playlists and then just bring them into the dx50.

edit - I can see the playlist (called "mellow" in this case) but there is nothing in the folder.

Has anyone faced problems using the DX50 as a USB DAC for their laptop? I'm running Win 7 64-bit but even after going downloading the iBasso USB DAC file and installing it, it still won't work :/

Would appreciate some help!
