Sorry, can`t help You. Maybe it has something to do with W8.1x64. It works fine under W7Ux64. Maybe try to give it administrative rights and run in compability mode? I remember I had also problem at beginning but I just did one small move wrong. Btw, If I remember correctly, then only +vol button alone didn`t work for me also and I had to use hold or power button (sry don`t remember anymore) combination or something.
Also, maybe try uninstalling DX50 drivers from PC (use ccleaner to clear up registry after that) and try again as RKB instruction says.
Maybe Medmitry can help You better @ PM.
Edit: Yes, I think it was +Vol button + Power button. It doesn`t say it in instruction (which is stupid).
Turn off DX50, press and hold +vol and power button, connect USB cable and release +vol button. Or press power button after connecting USB and release +vol ...sorry, don`t remember which way it was. Try.
You only hold the volume + on with the unit off. I used 86x with Windows 7 64 bit. It took a few tries but works for my Dx90 and 50 now. I haven't kept up with what you are doing but if you need a FW placed on the DX50 and can't get the batch tool to work I can do it for you.
I am running Windows 8.1 64 bit.

The rkbatchtool will not work on Win 8.1 64 bit, there are a few workarounds but none of them worked for me, on an old XP 32 bit, no problems at all.
So, basically I'll have to run a virtual machine with XP or 7?

I had the exact same issues as you're experiencing, and whatever I tried, it didn't work. I never tried a VM, I started up the ancient XP and it worked first time.
But, yes, AFAIK 8.1 64 is a no go, it worked up until 8, as I read from several forums and discussions.
I forgot that my laptop is still running Windows 7! I'll give it a try on there.
If that still doesn't work, try using one of the other drivers. Even though my computer is Windows 7 too, the W7 driver didn't work for me. I had to install the XP driver and it did work. Good luck.
