i'm using the same dx50/c421 pairing too! simply awesome :D

Indeed, it's pretty cool. I actually had a few amps on demo last year or earlier in the year? for about 2 weeks.

JDS C421
JDS C5
Leckerton UHA-760
C&C BH
Panda P&D

Guess which one I chose.

Thanks for the recommendations. Is there any other option? I would like to hear more recommendations by other dx50 users. :)

The FiiO E12 was another amp that I liked with the DX50. It's quite a bit bigger than the DX50 though.

I have my sony ex600 + dx50 amped via an Fiio E12, i like more than the internal amp of the dx50.
  1. The sound is more neutral with a hint of warm instead the darkish sound of the dx50,
  2. Better soundstage.
  3. The extra power helps to my iems to have more micro dynamics and control of the driver
  4. Now i can use my philips shp8900 cause the dx50 drive them just awfull
By the way, have you listen to the diferent firmwares and their "sound" ???? I have noticed nothing on those sound changes through the firmwares via LO+E12

Although I primarily use my DX50 from the HO because of my particular application (exercise) it is also very very good from the LO connected to the C5. I guess that means I like the C5 but I've not tried others. Don't think you can go wrong with the C5.

Doing a Factory Reset after an upgrade removes all traces of the previous firmware.  It's highly recommended.  Let us know if your device repeats this behavior.

I didn't know that! Thanks a lot for the info! I'll definitely do this when I get home because I have experienced stuttering here and there.

Hey DX50 owners! Which cheap and reliable uSD card do You recommend for DX50 ? What speed class it has to be? Going to use it for FLAC files. Size depends on price.

Thanks in advance for recommendations!

I like SanDisk Ultra and Samsung EVO class 10 cards. I have no idea if it makes any difference to run class 10 within the DX50 (could be the increased read and write speeds don't matter), but it's nice if using a card reader to transfer a large number of files to the card.

In my opinion, the SanDisk Ultra is the card that provides the best cost-to-performance ratio. I saw a Samsung card (and another brand I believe) that were faster, but they cost more and I just don't think the extra speed matters at all for playing music.

I`m also wondering if speed class really makes any difference with playback of large FLAC files. Atm seems that I`m going to get Adata Premier Pro microSDHC UHS-I U1 Class10 32GB since it`s most easily available and quite cheap (18€) in my country.

Edit2: nwm, 32GB is about same price as in my local shop. But considering getting 64GB Sandisk from amazon. There are only few 64GB uSD cards available in here and prices are insane! ;S

The Samsung EVO are rated (and seem to be measured) faster. And depending on what day you check Amazon, they may be the same price or cheaper.

Found one 64GB uSD card from my country web-shop and it costs only 29€ - ADATA Premier Micro SDXC UHS-I 64GB (Video Full HD) +SDHC Adapter
Manufacturer link: http://www.adata.com/index.php?action=product_feature&cid=7&piid=203
Should be good but we`ll see, going to get one.

After trying 1.50, and two version of DOC mod in the pass weeks I reinstalled 1.2.8 and with my new Heir 4.Ais I got so much detail across all frequencies and just get immersed in the music. Just saying

Hi, can you guys recommend me a good portable amp below $200? I would like to pair it with my dx50, this is due to I cannot bear the hiss when i plug in my se535ltd into dx50

I use the iBasso D42 amp with my DX50 its sounds really good, I prefer it over my E12 which is paired with my X3 anyways. If you get the D42 you can get a top kit for it and have it sound any way you want it to becauce it opamp rollable meaning you can switch them out easily for a whole different sound sig. It also has dual wolfson dacs so you can hook it up to your computer. All this for 188.00!

DOC has so many differently sounding mods that it is not quite clear what you mean, of course it all really depends on your sound preferences and your earphones.

Still if you prefer the 1.2.8 as more detailed compared to DOC2008 mods I highly suggest that you try Sound Unlocked 1.2.1 by Dmitry https://yadi.sk/d/Z4Xg0f7BWJUxJ
It should be flashed as any usual update.

Also given your preference DX50 MEGA SOUND EXPLOSION SECOND EDITION by DOC would be good for you I guess https://mega.co.nz/#!T0QnCaCR!W5baLFm7SdaPFbMweKImFl_gG5zOq73JaKup289IKxU

Give us some feedback once you try these two - I hope you like them!
