The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016

Just my 2cents.

I got Objective 2 amp recently and connected LCD-2 rev.1 headphones to DX50. Before that I was listening through Heaven VI (direct or via AMB Mini3 amp). The differences between firmwares were not so obvious till now - O2 + LCD2 makes quite resolving setup.

1.2.2 wins hands down over 1.2.6 and 1.2.7 in my view, I think I was even hearing some distortions on .6 and .7 firmwares, none of them are on .2.

Bought a pair of Sennheiser Momentums (On-Ears) for portable use, since my ATH-ES55s are nearly broken for the third time, and my AKG K550s aren't exactly the most portable headphones. They sound great with the DX50 + C5. Maybe not the most detailed, but it's a lively sound - just what I'm looking for, for portable use. Very comfortable as well, something the ATH-ES55s were not.

I just noticed that the iBasso glitches when skipping through an extremely long track (like a 3 hours mix), most of the time after the 120th minute. The player just skips to the next track. Where can I report the issue ?

Yep, I sent this to them too, but they haven't fixed it yet. service@ibasso.com

On a similar note, DX50 will completely freeze up when playing long hi-res tracks. Rush's '2112' in FLAC always freezes for me. But only happens when I switch to it after playing something else.

Yeah it is better than 1.2.2 in my impression but it has a bug which at random times stops the music currently playing and goes back to the track it remembered the last time it wad shutdown.

I bumped into this 1.2.5 bug again comparing the DX50 HP out to external amping. It has only ever happened to me when adjusting the DX50's volume. So for use of the DX50 as a source, it has not been an issue. I still don't think 1.2.5 is all there, but probably the best of the bunch for my purposes so far.

I'm also using DX50 as a source and still have this bug on 1.2.5 while just listening and not touching anything. It's ironic when I think about it, each of the update after 1.2.2 introduced its own issue/s. Now I feel like 1.2.2 is the most stable for me and applying the updates is trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist.

The file scan during startup can be annoying but DX50 was designed like this to begin with. It only annoys you once but never gets in the way of enjoying your music soon as you get past that stage.

Possible. The database could be the main factor which is exposing the bug. Maybe I'll give it another try. I'll flash 1.2.5 and not let it create a database and browse only by file.

I bought mine from that company having previously bought my Cowon J3 from them. When I went to the link I laughed at the photo but did notice on similar items they had the silicone case for the DX50 so it is ordered.

On another note my DX50 firmware 1.2.7 when locked, as it is in my jacket pocket, has given a loud click in earphones and frozen. The only solution is to do a factory reset, it was on the first or second or third song on whatever album I'm playing. If I do not use the lock function it plays ok. This has been happening over the past few days.

When I got my DX50 it came with 1.2.6 installed and I never encountered this problem. I was actually walking my dog when it happened so maybe 1.2.7 dislikes the canines.
