The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016

I placed an order for DX50 over the weekend. So far I have only received a paypal receipt. Do iBasso normally send out order confirmation emails?

How long does it normally take them to dispatch orders?

For me, they didn't send out a confirmation email. They answered when I asked about the status and also sent me the tracking number when the device had been picked up from them.
According to their web page, the 7th batch will ship on 30/10, so you should get an email shortly after that.

thanks

Have you had the chance to compare it with the plain 'ol Amperior?

Unfortunately no, but the HD 25 Aluminium should have practically the same sound signature as the HD 25-1 II except with the sonic benefits of having aluminium instead of plastic cups since they are after all exactly the same drivers so searching up a HD 25-1 II VS Amperior comparison will probably answer your question.

Wow, made the jump from v1.1.6 to v1.2.2 and all I can say is wow! The sound quality increase is huge using my NT6 Pro and my LCD2.2 on the headphone out. It is even larger on the line out using my BH2 amp. I don't know how it is possible as it sounds crazy, but all my previous sound quality criticisms are now gone. However, I have to admit that I made a couple recent changes that my also effect sound quality that I have to sort out including adding an upgraded S3 battery yesterday per Rudi's advice and receiving a new LCD cable this week.

For what it is worth, initial v1.2.2 sound impressions:
- The sound is definitely wider and less constricted with obviously more space
- The bass has gone from flat and lifeless to now having a fuller, more lifelike 3D texturing
- The mid-range has sweetened, come forward, and sounds more detailed and lifelike
- The sound no longer falls apart at lower volumes
- There is an added dimension to the sound where I am hearing things differently in a good way, hearing new elements previously missed
- The sound is more euphoric and musical

Feel free to write these impressions off as unlikely or too enthusiastic, but this is what I am hearing today. For the first time since I got this 3rd batch player, I am really excited about it. Maybe it just finally finished burning in.

don't know if it has been mentioned here, but  I've noticed something with the new firmware:

files on multiple CD albums in album category are sorted like this: 1 track, 1 track, 2track, 2 track 3 track, 3 track and so on. but if you go from the artist and then album, these albums are sorted normally - all the CD1 songs followed by all the CD2 songs in correct order.

as for the changes in SQ. I am one of those skeptical guys when it comes to this but I swear I feel there is more space and the sounds are also "spacey" and less constricted to one certain area. base boom compared to the 1.2.0. is less but I like it more. the player sounds less Thick and more clear I guess...

call me crazy if you want :D

I am impatiently awaiting arrival of my DX50 (seventh batch).

I currently use a rockboxed ipod classic playing high quality FLAC files, dock out and Fiio E7 amp, my cans are KEF M500 and Sennheiser Momentum.

What kind of differences and improvements can I expect with the DX50? Improved mids? more accurate bass?

Please whet my appetite even more.

As far as comparing it to the classic, it beats it hands down. I sold mine a little while back and do not miss it one bit. You should be pleased with it, and now with the firmware improvement people are talking about, what else can I say.

......Musicheaven, is there such a big difference between the ipod classic and the 5th gen video, both rockboxed??

More like finishing burning in.

Auditory memory can play trick on you unless you are able to demo two players with current & previous firmware side by side.  I am just happy that iBasso has addressed the library scanning issue.

I've also noticed an improvement in SQ since
1.20 and back to the way it sounded before they messed it up in 1.20. I haven't listened too much but from memory it does sound quite a bit better especially in the clarity
