OK, the standard 3-pin XLR pinouts are pin 1 - ground, pin 2 - positive (hot), and pin 3 - negative (cold). However, American companies used to (probably still) use pin 3 "hot" and pin 2 "cold". On some devices, there is a phase inverter, for example on your PerfectWave DAC II (don't know the exact pinouts it uses).
In a speaker system, you just swap the +/- on speaker side or the amp side to correct the mismatch between the source and the amp. I guess it's a bit harder in a headphone system.

are you sure your CD player is pin 3 hot?  pin 2 hot has been the standard of the AES for 20 years

getting there.  going to get an update on the front panels this week.  last weekend, i laser engraved the back panels for the amp & PSU, and today/tomorrow the connectors are being attached to them.  the power supply boxes are assembled w/ the transformers mounted.  picked up the PSU umbilical cables last week.  the module PCBs probably ready this week.

Awesome work, Justin!

I now have the Senn HD600 which I'm using with my Pico Slim until I receive the GS-X, I've also just ordered a 4 pin balanced silver headphone cable for the 600 and GS-X. The HD600 sounds very good with the Pico Slim so I'm not sure what to expect when using the GS-X.

Hey Justin:

Any updates on the readiness to ship out the upgrade modules to us existing GS-X owners?

Thanks

I should be picking up the modules on monday. I wish that was the end of it, then i have to hand match the jfets and LEDs and assemble and test. I'll need about 2 weeks for that as i have to do 250 modules.

just wondering, to use with an iem, which would get the better result?  the xlr(3 pin or 4 pin) jack or the 1/4 headphone jack?

I've ordered a custom cable for my HD600's to use with the GS-X when I receive it, and was advised to get a 4 pin which is what I've done. Although the HD600 isn't an IEM.
