To me, it sounds like the GS-X Mini was made for planars. Absolutely fantastic together.

That's a nice step up!
Sure is! Got it yesterday but just starting to do some critical listening today. The volume pot is the stepped attenuator. It has some very faint noise audible through the headphones when changing volume. Not every click, just some of them. I've been leaving it on high gain and the volume pot at noon and adjusting volume on the Lumin T3.

Normal. Use Deoxit if scratching noise gets worse. DACT is better than digital volume IMO.

Open up the unit, spray into the tiny holes around the dact and turn back and forth 20 times.

Ugh.
Thank you very much for the advice. I'll open it up tomorrow but I'm not 100% sure as to what I'm looking at to go and start spraying things.

Good luck. I've come to despise that measly 24-step attenuator. I haven't had to clean mine out yet but 24 steps just isn't adequate.

Before opening up the unit -- try just rotating the volume knob clockwise / counter-clockwise everyday for a little bit and see if cleans things up.

Does anyone have experience comparing Vio 550/Niimbus head-to-head with GS-X MK2?

I haven’t had them side by side but I owned the V550 Pro before the GS-X MK2

Agreed

Second that. That’s a good reason to add a preamp or a source with variable output. High end implementation nowadays needs to be either 128 step relay or TKD or better pot.
