  Stacking is heresy

.

Jup, that sounds like an accurate description of me :) While the manual does not recommend stacking the amp on top of the power supply, it does not prohibit it. The only thing it does prohibit is stacking the power supply on top of the amplifier :p

$800 for the umbilical? I got one for my B52 from Stefan about 6 yrs ago for about $100 I think. I need to check, but it wasn't a huge amount.
(Maybe that's what set of lugnuts for a Maserati costs...)
Yeah, I hate stacking, even if it's just on principle. Otherwise I need to put it on the floor. I don't like that either. But this is for a desktop situation.
By the way, how hot does each GSX box get? Thanks again everybody.

I stacked my GS-X mk2 from the first run the entire time I had it.  No hum at all, I was using the HD800, HE-6, LCD-3C, T1s - even the TH900 and Denons had no him..  I might have been there, I just didn't hear it.

I only hear it with the 846.  LCD-3 and HD800 aren't able to pick it up if memory serves.  But since the 846 is my only headphone now... power supply is on a platform on the floor and the amp is on my desk.  First world problems.  They radiate up and down so even a side by side setup would prevent hum.

Pretty much sums up my experiences too.

That's encouraging. A 4-foot cable does not give you much room to deal with. I'm surprised it's so difficult to get a different length, unless there is some technical or performance reason.

The cables are made for me by another company with components I provide, though on the last occasion I did the pin crimping in house when I needed something for an employee to do. But that situation does not exist right now. It would be too expensive/time consuming to just make 1 cable. I would rather not throw out a quote that seems insulting

No hum from the HD800 & HE1000 either.  Very very faint hum from the R10 & CD3000.  Audible hum from the MDR-CD1700.

OOPS! Sorry and full humble apologies. I did *not* mean to be insulting at all, and I phrased it the wrong way; wrong tone. I just meant to say I wished there was a way to get a longer cable, that's all, not knowing the difficulty involved. Thanks Justin for responding, and again please accept my retraction of this.
