Nope, smooth as silk! Many reviewers claim near bass head levels or bass head levels, I didn’t notice that, it seemed relatively think and bass centered, yet I felt an incredible style of balance somehow? Maybe I’m a bass head at times, so I don’t notice the slant of an L?

I'm currently using the force 1 with TRI clarion eartips and I'm having absolutely NO fatigue with trebles. The bass remains thick and BIG but it's really a pleasure to deal with it
For me the force 1 is a big YES but unfortunately is almost ignored by forum people...

My Essence changed usage. Start as audiophile set with an F.Audio dap, bal connection (FA3S) also reviewed them giving 4½ stars.
Then the F.Audio dap died and replaced with an HiBy R3 2022, bal connection. Owh! Their bass still great but I felt them extremely V-shaped, the midranges became too recessed, inconsistent and thin I would give 2½ stars. Could not fix with the HiBy's MSEB, to restore the midranges I had to set at extreme level, resulting in unnatural sounding. Replaced Essence with Juzear 41T, a great IEM. The Essence went to PC monitor but still require heavy EQ to get a FR similar to the 41T, even if at a cost, again, of quite unnatural sound, but as PC monitor is not big trouble I don't spend much time on it, I want the best SQ outdoor with my HiBy dap. Then recently I tried them to replace my jogging IEM (KZ Zsx that seem to have lost some bass, they went to the PC) connected to an old F.Audio S1. WOW! What a blast! Undoubtly V-shaped, the midranges are clear but not recessed inconsistent and thin as with the R3.The powerful bass, the sparkly trebles and the vivid dynamics makes them great for my jogging music, mainly EBM and Synth Futurepop (VNV Nation, Front 242 etc) or also Dark Electro (In Strict Confidence, Hocico etc) Again 4½ stars, the only downside is their sibilance even if not too bothering, at least to me.
The Essence seem sensitive to the device they are connected to, how different they sound with different daps. Quite disappointing with the most expensive dap I own (the HiBy) and so fun and engaging with the cheapest (the S1) while being fairly enjoyably audiophile with the now dead FA3S. For sure they are not smooth with any source
