I still think the more elegant solution would be to use a 2.5mm four conductor for balanced and 3.5mm three conductor for unbalanced. That would allow you to use two cable end connectors for making an adapter cable.

se

I balanced Whiplash for portable and 1 for home = a lot of $$$.

The cost of the connector is very little and it is very, very easy to terminate for balanced. This is an easy do. Looking forward.

I think he was referring to the fact that you need two cables if you want to use them with anything else.

Sure but you don't have to buy uber expensive cables to get a good effect on balanced.

well youre still getting twice the voltage swing, and more importantly better control of the drivers. common mode rejection isnt the only bonus of balanced setups.

This my my 4th same response in three days:
Read the thread man, read the thread. It seems that members are getting more and more lazy.
They want the answers on a silver platter.
Please don't think that I'm picking on just you, panda, but it's a small thread. You are not the only one.

People just come into the middle of the thread and without doing any research, they ask the same question that has already been asked, and, answered. I can understand if a thread, like the JH-13 thread which has almost a thousand posts, you are not going to spend the evening reading "War and Peace".

But if you're truly interested in a particular subject, then I feel you should spend 15 minutes to get caught up. There's only 5 or 6 pages in this thread.

Or at least you can make an effort and say "I really don't have the time to re-read a thousand pages, so can anyone tell me the answer to...".

Basic thread etiquette, like not writing in caps. I guess this has been discussed in the "http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f11/what-kids-think-its-just-dismaying-460087/" thread.

Yes, I was referencing two separate cables as the JH13Pros sound very good balanced out of a home system. Of course, who would not want them when on the road as well but say a 10 foot cable for home is a little bit long for portable use. I am exploring if it would be feasible to use a single cable with a balance extension for home since it needs to be terminated in the dual 3 pin XLRs.

i supposed that will depend on your definition of 'expensive'. i'm going to need 2 new balanced cables, 1 for my LW3, and 1 for my modified tf10 ( in the future). i'm not going to modify/reterminate any of my current cables, so that means i will need 2 new cables. assuming, i get them both from whiplash, my safest bet will be 400 total.

We are working on the chassis right now; the first chassis would be available within a week or 10 days. I will post the pictures once the first prototype chassis is here.
To be continued....

i wasn't expecting that for at least another 3 months. does that mean preorder is gotta start in the 1st quarter of 2010?! i don't think my wallet can handle it.

Please make the first chassis silver instead of black. Pretty please. With sugar.
