Regarding OTG and Kingston / Silicon Power:
I see i.e. Kingston has 2.0 and 3.0 small memory drives, with normal and micro usb
adapter. What has a better chance to work as usb OTG: 2 or 3?

I used both 2.0 & 3.0 without issues.

ETA: Honestly couldn't say which would work better because I only used the dongle and sandisk or pny flash drives or a Transcend card reader.  The few devices I tried that plugged directly into the micro usb port of the X3II did not work.

No in fact I'm quite anal about having track numbers, and where they don't get carried across from ripping my CD collection, I religiously add (or correct) them using MP3 Tag, in the standard format, e.g. 1/11, 2/11 etc. So my entire collection has perfect track numbering.

Every media player I have or had picks this up and follows the order perfectly, whether it's my Windows PC or even a simple smartphone, from an old Nokia with a Symbian player to RocketPlayer on  Android. But my wonderful X3ii seems to simply ignore this when playing from Folders, and defaults to alphabetical -- which is a bit of a pain. So far only numbering the actual filename or track name seems to work. It's driving me to distraction....!

You got me then.  I don't know why the track numbers are missing.  Perhaps it's a setting in your ripping software?  I only use folder browsing and haven't experienced this.  I wish I could be more helpful.

  Dear needmoretoys,
There are some headphones with CTIA standard but not be a quite standard in the market. We were not able to consider and cover all this headphones before, so we are afraid your headphones are not compatible to the X3II. Sorry if bringing inconvenience to you.

It does seem that none of the MEE headphones are really compatible with the FiiO X1 and X3ii, even though MEE says that they use CTIA. The earbuds that came with my Galaxy S5 work perfectly with my FiiO players. It's too bad that the MEE don't work, as they are what I use most.

Back to the question of buying Sennheiser headphones. Should I get the Apple or Android ones to work with my X3ii? It appears that Samsung has switched to CTIA, so I'm guessing that the S5 earbuds are CTIA since they work perfectly with my X3ii and X1.

I have a question for Fiio,

I have a strange skipping issue on my x1 and X3ii. It skips/glitches only on flac or DSD tracks, 64 GB cards work fine but my 128GB cards cause problems. Cards have been formatted in the X3, copied using the X3. I was planning on transferring all music off reformatting and transfer back using a usb 3.0 card reader. Before I do that is there any known reason other than the card why I would have these problems? Is there a firmware update coming out perhaps?

Dear trivium911,
It seems your 128GB TF card is not quite compatible to the X1/X3II.You can tried to update the firmware or format the card to another file system to see whether it helps.
Or maybe you can put flac/DSD files to your 64GB card instead of the 128GB one to get them work properly.
Sorry if bringing inconvenience to you.
Best regards

Nope its fine i understand, does the x3 or x1 read other file formats like ntfs? Im assuming not since by default formats it to fat 32.

Is it just me, or is there really no way to ensure that, when playing by Folders, individual MP3 albums play the tracks in their correct order?

The only way I can find to stop tracks playing alphabetically (especially disastrous for classical music!) is to label the filenames and/or titles as 01 name, 02 name, 03 name etc. which is a really tedious job in MP3 Tag for a huge collection. I don't want to mess with having to create playlists. Am I missing a trick here? Thanx!

Dear Spidworthy
If you are reading the songs of the same album in a folder(not songs from .cue), the order of the songs is according to their file names.
But if you playing the songs from category--ablum(you need to update the media library first.), the order of the songs is according to the track number of the songs.
Best regards

The X3II/X1 can support exFAT, NTFS format, but only FAT32 format cards can be used for firmware upgrades.

That sucks...i just bought my x3ii :frowning2: and they are coming out with a new one lol i wish my wife liked electronics.

Has anyone compared the fiio x3ii stacked with a5 or e12a to the x5ii or dx90? Ive often wondered if it would be worth buying one.

Dear howdy,
The X5III is coming soon.
And the X3III will be released in 2017.
Best regards

I take it there's going to be a thread up of proposed specifications and whether we approve or not in a few months? I'm a massive fan of the X3ii (I own two) and would hate to see the best budget DAP on the planet lose its place.

Aha, that works, finally, and thanks for pointing that out!

It does seems to be a strange way of doing things though. If you use Category > Album as you suggest, this does not let you see your collection by genre (e.g. Classical, Jazz, etc.) which can be shown under Folders if that's how you structure your collection. All your collection's albums are shown mixed up together, irrespective of their genre.

And using Category > Genre bundles all your individual tracks together, so not in individual albums. None of these options are ideal.

Perhaps this is something to address in a future player's firmware? I love the quality and build of my X3ii, but this is not a problem I've had with any other media player, where album tracks play in their original order no matter how you choose to view them.

Dear Spidworthy
If you mean you want to read album from genre, it is not available for X3II. We will try to report this suggestion to the product manager and consider about this in a future player. Thank you!
Best regards
