Yes thé Line out Will support dsd 128 because it s à musical électric signal like in your headohone.
However the same output Can bé usé to do bitstream and it also support dsd 128 if your DAC support DOP format.(dsd over pcm)

Back to the X3ii pairing with Grado headphones, it is worth noting that various models will respond differently. I set the X3ii output gain to low, and there is plenty of gain to spare.

Someone mentioned that they were using high gain. I find that pushing too much volume through the SR80i will increase harshness.

im planing to get fiio A5, not for Grado but for other headphone..

however i think Grado can sound better with X3II+A5 combo since A5 while overall natural SQ it does have bit warmer sound and less harsh high.

Im assuming A5 should be better amp than Fiio X3II inboard amp.

Grados will only pair well to the A5 if the source into the A5 is dark. Grados have an overly bright and sometimes harsh high end. So unless your source is dark enough, Grados won't do well.

I'm having a weird issue with my X3 (II).

Sometimes I lose signal in the right side of my Ultimate Ears triple-Fi 10 Pro's when I push the up volume button. It feels stuck once in awhile and I have to unplug my earphones and then back in to get sound in both ears again.

Thanks!

Hi, Kevin Lathrop
Have you tried to update the firmware or change the headphones to see whether it helps? This issue only happens when you push the volume+ button, right?

@Fiio i just got my new X3 2nd gen, it is running on X3II FW2.0, whenever i plug or unplug my earphone or headphone in the h/o out, there is a soft click 2 times from my X3, is it normal?

Hi, Raymondelta
Yes, it is normal.
The amplifier output of the X3II was transit to the headphone port through a electric relay. When turning on/off and plug/unplug headphone, it would momentary disconnect the connection of the relay. At this time, the headphone is disconnected to the inside of X3II so as to avoid any
sonic boom or abnormal sound. However, the disconnection of the relay depends on the electrical signal which would generate slight sound.

Okay, thank you very much for your explanation. I am very happy with the X3, it is a very good dap.

Firmware 1.4. Have a problem listening to the vinyl rip, made with j-river, to dsf file.
Both sides are as two dsf and cue file. In foobar I could see separate songs and start
them separatelly. In x3 I could not see songs, but just dsf. I changed tag for a file, but
I cannot see it separatelly what ever I do.
Any idea? Not a big deal, but I know there might be a solution.

Hi, fooboo
Have you tried to update to FW2.0 to see whether it helps? And are the track and the cue file having the same name in a same directory?
