  Hey, Stein.
Your themes kick ass. I really like the new green and color ones for trying to read in sunlight. One request for people like me that need reading glasses...Can you make a theme with a SUPER large font? Especially for the song title? Even if you have to cut out a bunch of other details to show a super large song title, I think that would be great. I'm trying to change songs while riding on a bike (or walking sometimes), in the sun, without reading glasses. Big challenge!

Completely off topic but is your avatar the cover of the new Fates Warning album? Way cool.

Yes it is.

Not in the firmware, I'm afraid. The only way I see is to specialise the media files for this DAP: process each of the embedded images to draw a black/transparent border around them.

Has anyone in fact tried bordering the images on the sides to make (square) album art fit the X3's [rectangular] screen, including allowing for the info strip at the bottom? If so, what exact width of [black or other colour] bordering needs to be added (in pixels, e.g.) on each side to make the entire cover show on the X3? If no-one has yet tried and has a specific dimension, when I have time I'll play around with it in an image editor just out of interest.

BTW several tips earlier to achieve the same thing by simply shrinking the size of the album art don't work, as the X3 automatically compensates and still displays art at full WIDTH irrespective of the image size.

I may be wrong, but I think you might have to scroll back through lots of previous posts on this forum to find the individual links posted by the individual (private) developers of the various themes available -- unless some kind soul has taken the trouble to collate and post a whole list?

Depending on which firmware you prefer (2.0 is the current and apparently final one for the X3ii, but some people prefer 1.4 because it had some extra functionality which FiiO later removed), I can recall probably half a dozen independent theme sets having been offered to the community over the past year and a half or so.

The latest ones just referred to, from Zweistein, are at https://www.dropbox.com/sh/h9f6xs8n85y0pfz/AACp-U7D0c1anNZHrOqT5g7Oa?dl=

Havnt had a DAP since the my iPod video. Is this a step up from a Samsung s7 edge or an iPhone 6 which I both have? I mostly use the s7 since I can play FLAC and 24 bit FLAC files natively. I mostly use an RHA t20 but am purchasing a 5 driver CIEM soon so I've been thinking of getting a DAP too if that will be a big upgrade.

Since the CIEM I'll be getting is quite the investment.. most I can get is probably the x3 ii or maybe a 2nd hand x5 ii. I think both are ugly and I actually prefer the dx80 in terms of looks but it's way out of budget.

Okay Stein, you nailed it with your new Theme 6. I love it. The bottom of Ps and Ys etc...getting cut off doesn't bother me at all. And of course the white and green letters with black background provide great contrast. Thanks for helping me be able to read my X3!

Great device!

With my in ears, I have noticed a significant increase in quality using my Shure's - I already feel that the SE215 is an amazing product for its price but pairing it with the X3ii it seemed to open up even more - the B&O's H3's were not as noticable so ill keep them for my iphone/streaming and keep the Shures paired with the X3.

Another update of my high-contrast, bold font variation on the firmware, now the same for 1.4 and 2.0. Theme 1 is my favorite and quite green, 2 is the same but covering album art, 3 has lots of colour and a bigger font and a sailboat, 4 is the same but with pacman, 5 and 6 are Fiio's original with a bold font.

Themes 1 to 4 have larger playtime and track numbers (below the progress bar). The X3II grabs these number for the current theme when booting. so it doesn't follow suit right away when you change themes.

To install: copy the file X3II.fw under folder 1.4 or 2.0 to the root folder of the X3II's memory card, and restart it while pressing the button northwest of the scrolling wheel.

Love it!  The contrast is great and i like the color and the earth on the menu.

which ciem u gonna get, i love x3ii and felt that it is quite a good dap. neutral dap. quite the enjoyment.

Planning to get a local CIEM (Manila, Philippines). Gonna listen to it this weekend. :D

Heres a link to their facebook page. One of my good friends just went to their office to demo the entire lineup in universal form and I trust his ears as he is a musician and we are looking for the same sound sig (neutral). Problem is... he liked the 5 driver and the 14 driver. Was initially targeting the 3 or 4 driver but he said those were v-shaped.

Auditioning on the weekend as they have a 20% discount in an audio show. Below is their facebook page for those interested. They ship overseas too.

Don't get it, I'm using One Plus 3 Smart phone with DAC built into the SnapDragon 820 soc and it sounds better than the x3, I'm going to assume your iphone 6 and s7 will sound just as good. Just received my x3 today and I'm super underwhelmed driving my KZ-ATEs and 7BA IEM. Maybe a DAP is needed to drive higher impedance over ear headphones but low impedance IEMs seem to run just as good on modern 2016 smart phones.
