Good comparison. Line-out actually output signal comes from DAC+LPF and contribute the huge part of FiiO's house sound.

I Googled it and I think LPF is low pass filter but I don't know what that is anyway.

yes, LPF is low pass filter which to decrease some very high frequncy signal.

Today I visited BH camera. They had the X5 and X1 on display, no X3 of any kind. My impressions are mixed.
1. I thought that X5 has much more power. Driving my TBSE1 took much more than I thought it would. I guess it could be not as absurd as I thought at the first place to carry an amp.
2. Liked the form factor and the interface of X1 more, the plastic back spoils the great impression.
Sound vise the X5 is just better at any parameter, with a maybe too piercing highs.
Why have I brought this offtopic monologue? Because is the X3 II is close to X5 in sound that would be just phenomenal.
P.s. The X5 is much less giant than I thought...

Does the Fiio downsample to 16/48 before sending  to the dac - which is what the Ibasso 50 does. At least that's my understanding.
I'm new to this - so I could be way off.

No. The DAC converts up to 24/196 and does DSD natively.

The X5 has a very flat sound, whereas the X3 2nd gen has some roll off starting from 3khz all the way to 20khz, 20khz is about 0.2db down from the other frequencies before 3khz
in the bass region it rolls off from about 125hz and is about 0.1 below at 20hz.

Thanks. So what you saying is that the highs should be less analytical and the overall sound more pleasant to the ears? I'd like that. Could you please make a simple graph expaining in pucture the explanation that you just gave me? It would be easier to understand. Thanks

Check the specs of the X3 2nd gen on Fiio's website, you'll see the graph on there

Just putting this in perspective - you'll get far more roll-off in your headphones than in the X3ii.  And the graphs show about 0.05-0.07 dB roll-off (gradual) between about 3 kHz and 9 kHz.  In short - I could change the scale on the graoh and you'd hardly see it.  More importantly - you're not going to notice that roll-off.  Saying that it's going to sound smoother because of this roll-off is misleading.
 
This is half the problem with reading a graph - and then trying to relate it to the sound. In this case its pretty much inaudible.
