Is there anything on the market right now that's comparable in the price range?  I'm going to need a DAP soon and this isn't going to be out in time.  :(

  iBasso DX50

Thanks.  Doesn't look like that one does USB DAC.  I might have to jump up to the X5 in that case...

EDIT - Not concerned with DSD.  Mostly want USB DAC, digital output and the other standards (decent sound, amp, expandability).

woaa, so this is where X3II discussion came from. a lot of member in local forum talk about this new one. I just sold my X1, I only hold it up for 2 month. actually I did a modification opamp, it was so fun but not enough for my liking. OK, I'll keep an eye for this new X3K upps, I meant X3II.

So, this X3II has same power as X3 has. I guest it use the same topology analog section as the original X3, it means doesn't have buffer output, just opamp as voltage gain, am I right?

I just wanna know, how much voltage supply for opamp, +/- V? Ya, that's it.

It's really not my domain, as I don't have any experience with the Ibasso and did not read the Ibasso thread too much, but quick googling tells that with Firmware version 1.2.8 there is DSD support.

Hmm.. I've got 1.6.0 on mine so it should support DSD I guess.

the X3 II cames with OP+BUF and the output power ( at 32 ohms ) is almost the same as X3.

will the new x3 compatible with HS12(stacking kit) and sport armband(can't remember no.)?

yes, compatible with HS12, but not sports armband.

From first page X3II will used dual crystal oscillator for lowering jitter. but if I am not mistake, since X3II can play native DSD, it should used 3 oscillator,

1 for 44.1kHz based PCM signal (44.1kHz, 88.2kHz, 176.4kHz), 1 for 48kHz based PCM signal (48kHz, 96kHz, 192kHz), and the last one dedicated to DSD signal (2.8224 MHz, 5.6448 MHz)

How can James explain on this ?

Then, Wait for James to answer this:o:D

the X3 II is not as warm as X3, in fact, it is hard to describe the sound by word and it also depended on person.

With regard to usb DAC the current x3 is quite finicky on windows. There are many questions related to installing drivers. And the iPhone etc is not supported.

The silence from James on this leads me to believe the new unit will have similar limitations. If so I would suggest purchasing the unit primarily as a portable music device.

I suspect that we will see many threads about the sound signature differences between the old x3 and the new.

My guess is that the new unit will sound more like the X1. That in my view has a very open sound But somehow the x3 sounds more analog to me

Your mileage is sure to vary

P.S. James is you are reading this please have your team fix the unknown artist bug on the x3 and consider some of the simple user interface improvements that many of us have suggested. Mainly make it easier to get to the tone controls and file folders when playing a song. And add the option of automatically going to the next file folder when the current folder is done playing. Thanks. From your loyal customer
