you guys think this can connect to the unit without any problems? or will the case interfere?

guys i really hate to spam and ask the same thing over and over again. but untill i get an answer i wont stop.
i need a 2 headphone splitter so my gf can listen music same time with me.
theres also this kind of adaptor with slimmer connection which will connect without any problems im sure, its just that it takes more space and less durable due to more points the cable can fail at.
id go for the black one but can it be connected through the silicon case or not? can some1 send me a picture with the HO port as it looks like with the silicon case or something??
thanks.

If the HO hole in the case is too small, you can always mod it, but the white one looks much more practical - I highly doubt you will have any problems with it failing if the build quality is even just average.

You need to be more patient, answers will come in time... Same issue for me to, you have to remove your skin or use another adaptor with different connector pins size that will fit snug! I have 6 in my collection, only one work just fine! The decision is yours. using the white one that takes more space... or the black one that will not fit over the skin! ... Last solution... start you own thread !!

:D

This is a picture of the X1 in the silicon case. I imagine the X3 2nd Gen will be similar. From the looks of it, both your headphone splitters look like they will fit just fine.

i just hope the diameter will fit in the silicon hole. its not much space consuming as the white adaptor also less likely to fail, and not as wide as the black

when will the review embargo going to be lifted? last i read it was mid-march?
is it delayed? im looking forward to read an impression or two on the x3 from head-fi's members...

Embargo was lifted a little over a week ago.  You should start seeing full length reviews starting to make the rounds soon.

I think I was first to post, and Twister6 was soon after me - but they appear to be the first couple.  All reviews will be posted here:
http://www.head-fi.org/products/fiio-x3-2nd-gen-ultraportable-hi-res-dap/reviews

We've both had the units for at least 3-4 weeks, so had a better opportunity than the tours to come to evaluate over an extended time period.

x3 II product page didn't appear when I searched with keywords "x3 II" and chose the "products" only option.

I actually searched "x3 II" on the top page search bar around 5 or so days ago, it was past the 15th, so the product page and thus your review technically should actually have came up in the search page, hwoever it didn't. Even until yesterday, the above was the result that I still got.

Unlike searching anything else, like the "magni 2" for example above on the right side of the image, the x3 II product page didn't appear on top page search with the keywords "x3 II" and choosing "products" option.
So I thought the review embargo hasn't been lifted. In all fairness all your photo images did appear on "x3 II" keyword search on "all" option, I thought it was another quick comparison, because images and albums that appeared on "all" option results also came from forum's threads as well... like the images from the comparison post a month or so ago...

It appeared on Google though, https://www.google.com/search?q=x3+II+review+head-fi&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
I didn't use Google since head-fi has it's own search bar with advanced search option so... yeah.

Brooko

So, overall X3II is good to replace X1? I mean, I have a new X1 and easily can change my X1 to X3II with an extra cost, so should I do it or it's not a big deal?

here's Brooko's cliff notes from his post around a month ago...

So to the questions asked of me today – which is better? Answer – it depends …….

If:

You have no need to use the device as a separate DAC
You are limited on funds
You have no interest in DSD/DSF
You don’t need the latest and greatest
Your main headphones are going to be easy to drive, and don’t need additional amping
Your prefer the lightest, easiest to carry DAP possible

Then the X1 gets the nod.

If:

You don’t mind the extra spend for additional features
You need a standalone DAC functionality
You play or have interest in DSD/DSF
You own headphones that need a little extra power, and don’t want to use additional amping – preferring to rely on the DAP alone

Then the X3ii is going to tick your boxes.

X3 also have more functional EQ

X3 also have more functional EQ

Depends who you ask. Would you want a 100 band EQ? That's how I feel about 10 band EQ of the X3 (and the 18 band EQ of Foobar2000 for that matter). More is not always a good thing. I'm still likely to get the X3 II regardless, as it's the ideal replacement for my Cowon X7 in most other parameters.

okay. i like Foobar's default EQ option and the 10 band EQ of the X3 is of use to me.

Re EQ - depends on what you're used to using.  My issue with X1's EQ is that the 7 band starts at 62 then jumps to 160 then 400 Hz.  X3ii and X5 go 31, 62, 125, 250 - so much easier to EQ sub and mid bass (both additive and subtractive).

@rovopio - I'm just pleased you found the reviews.  I see Twisters review is now on the front page, so hopefully Fiio might get more coverage now.

Edited - typo (thanks Relic)
