The FiiO X3 2nd gen (ex X3K, X3II) Thread : 192K/24B, CS4398,Native DSD, USB DAC with LO and inline remote

Thanks for sharing. =)

My concern is I don't find HD25 terribly transparent, possibly a low to moderate performance ceiling. Meaning I can plug them into my iBasso DX90 then switch to FiiO X1 and the difference isn't terribly apparent, although noticeable it's not a major improvement (due to the headphone). So I'm debating whether X3K will give a tiny or moderate push.

Of course, in true Head-fi spirit I will eventually cave and get X3K in the end.

Hmm H2, I liken that Head-Fi spirit thing to something akin to Peer Pressure:-0 LOL As Wokei always says we are a band of enablers

Unfortunately I do have the new X3K but the only Senn's I have on hand right now are PX100ii's, PX200's and MOE's

Guys, can I get a little help?

I have been an iTunes user for a long time.
I used DoubleTwist to sync music to the X3, but playlists aren't showing up.

What do you use to manage music on a DAP like this?

I've been using Mediamonkey.

You could just copy your Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music (if your using Windows) folder to your microsd card.

What OS? I use Dapper for OSX and my X1. Works fantastic.

The problem is that I'm heavily dependent on playlists - i used doubletwist to sync, but it puts them all in the music folder, so I have to scroll endlessly to get to them.

Also, these playlists work, but only if I navigate to them directly. They don't show up in the playlist section of the X3.

I know Mediamonkey lets you create playlists, however I haven't tried it yet with the X3.  Maybe someone here has, or I will try it later and see what happens.

Well, I caved and just pulled the trigger on the new X3, can't wait to try it out...ordered a new 128g micro sd card while I was in the purchasing mode. Got it through B&H for $199 with delivery for this Friday, just in time for the weekend...

Early impressions...the X3ii sounds waaaay better than my iPod Classic. Music sounds much more lush and effortless than the rather harsh sounding iPod. Plenty of power to drive my DT1350's and Westone UMPro30's, however the Beyerdynamics really benefits from the E12a grip on the X3ii...just takes it to a whole other level. A very very good sounding combo!

Since purchasing the Schiit Magni2Ü back in January, my original Magni has found a home on my beside table. The Magni is by iPod Classic (line out). It works fine but nothing too spectacular. Now enter X3ii...whoa! Again what a mammoth improvement! The warmish sounding X3ii with a slightly shrill sounding amp (with good power) compliment one another extremely well indeed.

Bottom line, FiiO has produced a truly stellar DAP. Highly recommended.

Anyone know why the Playlists (m3u) aren't recognized in the X3's Playlist menu?

They never have been - that's only for the ones created internally on the X3ii.  Same with all the Fiio DAPs.

Here's a snippet of what I do - this is a segment of my review test tracks playlist:

 #clarity
S-U\Steely Dan\Gaucho\04 Gaucho.m4a
D-F\Dire Straits\The Best Of (Private Investigations)\01 Sultans Of Swing.m4a
#soundstage
A-C\Amber Rubarth\Sessions from the 17th Ward\08 Tundra.m4a
J-L\Loreena McKennitt\Live in Paris and Toronto\08 Dante's Prayer.m4a
A-C\Amanda Marshall\Amanda Marshall\01 Let It Rain.m4a
#bass
M-O\Mark Lanegan Band\Blues Funeral\02 Bleeding Muddy Water.m4a
J-L\Lorde\Pure Heroine\03 Royals.m4a
A-C\Amy Winehouse\Back To Black Deluxe\02 You Know I'm No Good.m4a

I keep them (my playlists) in the root directory

You could however add the full drive path, and then put them all in a folder (/playlists) instead - that way they're all together and out of the way
