1000+ Head-Fier
I will try that again when I get home. Appreciate the suggestions.Keep it on and let the clock settle....
Shutdown everything else. Wait 2min and turn on everything including the routher and modem

Yes, I believe the speed is 100mb.Check the speed between the devices....Etherregen is only 100MB on one side, if it works with JCAT something tells me your JCAT is running 100MB locked auto-negotiation.
Bridged the JCAT or?
Gee that all sounds terribly frustrating.I've tried connecting the SW-10 from the router directly into the jcat ethernet card, without the Etherregen. It worked for half a minute before it lost the ip and refused to connect. It absolutely refused to work that way.
I already purchased the LHY FMC a few days ago, should be coming in sometime next week.
The Etherregen doesn't sound bad to me, but I respect your opinion.
I just can't stand the issues that the SW-10 is having. It's mind boggling.
The pictures show the only way it will connect to the ip.
Will connect to the ip:
Modem -> Router -> SW-10 -> Etherregen -> Jcat Ethernet card (not stacked)
Modem -> Router -> SW-10 (sfp) -> Etherregen (sfp) -> jcat
Will not connect to the ip:
Modem -> router -> SW-10 -> Jcat card
Modem ->SW-10 -> Etherregen -> jcat
Modem -> router -> sw-10 (w/bnc out) -> etherregen(bnc in) -> jcat
Modem -> router -> sw-10 -> etherregen ->jcat (when stacked on top of each other, I have no idea why it doesn't work when stacked)
I've reset the router, modem, computer, and sw-10 switch dozens of times, it did not help.

Thanks for your response. Yeah, it's been a extremely frustrating experience.Gee that all sounds terribly frustrating.
A switch should just work with the network connecting almost immediately after being inserted/switched on, as it does with both my LHY SW-8 and Netgear switches, every time (exception being HQplayer on my server handshaking with the network renderer in my DAC which can take 20 secs or so, and sometimes a reset restart of HQP and the DAC).
The fact it works for you for 30 secs then stops sounds particularly suspect and makes me wonder about your particular unit. Not surprised it doesn't work plugged directly into your modem, would think it'd need a router interposed to assign IP addresses etc - indeed I see Beatechnik say this on their product page.
More generally I've not read of anyone else having such issues with the SW-10. And for what it's worth to you (probably little till you resolve this) I've not personally had any issues with several other LHY products I have, and from my correspondence with LHY/Beatechnik they seem pretty responsive /keen to ensure customer satisfaction.
To eliminate the possibility of a JCAT incompatibility (incl speed) thing, I second OCC7N's suggestion of trying the motherboard. Though given the SW-10 is based on a Cisco business switch I'd expect it to negotiate down to 100Mbps if it can't handshake or maintain a connection at 1Gbps. Indeed I daresay the majority of audiophile streamers would be limited to 100Mbps at present so 100Mbps compatibility has to be a given - I'd hazard a guess many if not most SW-10 owners are using it with 100Mbps streamers or audiophile network cards.
Does your JCAT work plugged directly into your router, and if so is the router gigabit or 100Mbs?
Business grade switch has an optional feature to detect multiple path and block frames that could travel across LAN in a loop infinitely. In the simple star configuration it never happen, but is possible with multiple adapters in the bridge mode. However I don't think it is a case.The fact it works for you for 30 secs then stops sounds particularly suspect and makes me wonder about your particular unit. Gigabit Ethernet mandatory feature is compatibility with Fast Ethernet. Switch is responsible for transfering frames from the slow to the fast port and in reverse. Store and forward architecture (all consumer grade and most of business switches) make it easy. It means the entire frame is buffered before forwarding. There is a delay, with a fixed minimum.To eliminate the possibility of a JCAT incompatibility (incl speed) thing, I second OCC7N's suggestion of trying the motherboard. This worked. Thank you occ7n. I guess when I move this around I need to turn off everything besides the switch and turn it back on.Keep it on and let the clock settle....

Damn. Was hoping you were sorted. Sounds like something in the connection, or switch, is unstable.And its back to not connecting.
the moment I remove the sw10 from the chain and connect the etherregen from the wifi router and etherregen into the jcat ethernet card, it works immediately.Damn. Was hoping you were sorted. Sounds like something in the connection, or switch, is unstable.
Perhaps still try those other things we've suggested and if they all work seamlessly /stably apart from those with the SW-10 as the last step in the chain to the server it simplifies the message back to Beatechnik seeking resolution.
