Tried USB dac mode on a MacBook. All USB ports freeze as you begin play. Had to reboot to fix. This feature appears not ready.

I tried the DAC function on a MacBook Pro running Yosemite 10.10.3 with Audirvana Plus 2.1.1 as the source and the DX90 DAC worked flawlessly.

I've just tried again and it is working now.  The only difference is that I switched from a USB port on my Thunderbolt display, to a USB port directly on the Macbook Pro.  I will continue to experiment, but it is working.

Third download and still the error. But the servers seem to ve very busy so I will wait until tomorrow.

Download the firmware this "morning" (Paris/France) and the file is OK. I suppose it was a server problem.

On 2.3.0, I realized that when I charge the DX90, it shows the Charging sign as usual. but when the display turns off and I want to turn it on to see if it was fully charged, I see a dimmed screen show up but no Charging sign.
However, if I switch the DX 90 ON (but still can't determine if it is fully charged), then OFF, then ON again, I get to see the charging sign.
Any idea what's going on?

Hmm, weird, I didn't get it on 2.2.0. I also tried factory reset but to no avail.

From the readme in the ZIP file:

Improvements with this firmware:
1. Support .dff DSD file.
2. Support DSD64, DSD128, and DSD256. All DSD files will be played at 24bit/88.2kHz.
3. Support 32bit/384kHz music in truncation to 24bit/192kHz.
4. Allow to work as a USB-DAC for Mac and Linux computer.

If you need something from that list you can try.

Thanks for the helpful replies.
I don't want brighter sound quality, I like it the way it is.
But I do want to ask about DSD, does it work well enough to hear a difference?  Is it worth the trouble to install?
Thanks and God Bless, Wayne

I'll stick with v2.20.

Spent too many hours testing all previous firmware two weeks ago 'calibrating' firmware/tip selection for the quite emotionally sensitive Tralucent 1Plus2.

Ain't going back down that pathway again...

Yes, this is too bad and I hope it gets fixed.  There's really no way now to know if the battery is fully charged by short pressing the power button while the unit is charging and turned off.

I'll think about upgrading every few releases... with the recent rockbox fixes nothing else is all that big of a deal.  i would jump on a rockbox upgrade that cut down on the power consumption though or improved the stability of playback or sound.  is there an option for using replay gain i haven't yet found?  i like all my tracks to be normalized and they should all have that data in them already.

Yes, rockbox supports replaygain.
