So i finally received my Beyerdynamic DT990/600ohm after a long agonizing torturous 2 day wait

I wasn't ready to upgrade my DT880/250's anytime soon, but B&H had an insanely good deal on these cans + I'd like to thank my good friend my.self who showed me the sale !!!

if anyone is interested, here is the link Beyerdynamic | DT 990 Premium Open-Back Stereo Studio | 483966
you need to click 'add to cart' to get the $236 deal

I doubt they will be in stock for very long, so act now before the price goes back to $320 !

I truly love the grills of the DT990's. very soft and pleasing to touch and look more cooler than DT880's imo.

some impressions: only had them on my head for a few hours.... but wow, these cans deliver !

they resemble the DT880 so much; but with more 'slam factor' bass that is well controlled and quite enjoyable.

the vocals seem to also be pushed up more further back; making the bass presentation come out a little better/stronger. Tbh, on some songs it feels like the bass can come from anywhere, so watch out guys

I can instantly tell the mids got a taaaaaaaaaad bit sacrificed for better bass/treble flow, but nothing drastic at all.

On Lower Quality mp3's, the 990 still shines and makes listening to music vast more entertaining than my 880's

My MKIII tube amp /w the Mullard 8161 + Sovtek 6H30-Pi upgraded tubes
has done these cans some great justice.

I just think my crappy Musiland Monitor 01 USB hogging dac is bringing down the 'wow' factor.

I ordered the Little Dot Dac-1 a couple days ago and should receive it shortly. I think these cans are gonna shine even once my new DAC is here

Note: I am just briefly comparing the 250 ohm of the DT880's to the 600ohm of the 990's. I have no idea how the DT880/600ohm sound.

Great cans, the DT990/600. Highly under-rated around these parts.

wow $236, that's some deal. give the HPs some burn in - they do change with at least 150 hrs. the bass quanity will drop and the mids will become more present.

the DT990/600ohms are keepers and the best HP i've owned.

ah very nice, quick shipping for u too! its gonna take about a week for mine to arrive. but no worries, my little dot mk2 is still on the way as well, so no point in getting the cans early. and im glad u like the deal!

edit: also, i really hope that i will like my set up too! i hope this can be the end of it for me for a while so i dont have to keep spending money, darn u head-fi.

Awesome and grats David!

I should have waited a week to look out for this thread...I paid the hefty 319 from headroom! Ugghhh, all is good though. Even at that price, they are well worth it and more

I did an unboxing hands-on review on my video channel below if anyone is interested. Much love for the dt990 600 ohm!

I'm liking mine more each day. Once you get used to the sound, you really begin to appreciate the clarity and low-end. Great match with OTL tube amps.

They are similar, but the DT990 have more bass, and a slightly recessed midrange, versus the 880.

Definitely better, IMO. Lots of threads on this here.
