Sitting here at my kitchen table enjoying a little free time from work, drinking coffee, using a snus and having bensodiazepines in my blood. Not that I would want to promote drugs (Hunter...) but it does take care of the anxiety an some of the paranoia as well. Speaking of which, I've been on disability for a few weeks now and getting used to my new medications, and they seem to be starting to work. I went a few days without cymbalta and lithium, and my world turned literally upside down, and I barely managed to get out of my couch, let alone function brain wise. I did manage to spend some more money, and bough a Seiko Chronograph watch and an Invicta Force watch because of it's look. Anyway, I'm slowly but steadily getting back to life and back to being able to enjoy things again - such as snus, coffee and this frigging iPad. I can't believe I waited so long before getting one, as it's awesome, even with IOS 7.
iOS 7 is a bit different than 6.3, yet similar enough to make me understand everything from the get go, and even the extra added functions. Now, here's the deal what I don't like about it: it's a resource hog. From my understanding, the iPad 4 is a lot faster than the previous model, the third gen IPad, and even then it gets a bit stuttery and laggy at times. Other than that, it's just improvements, and I thoroughly enjoy it more than the previous OS. First off, the overall design speaks to me more than the previous skeumorphism look, as it looks fresher and more modern. I have nothing against the icons, and I usually use third party apps anyway, which blend in beautifully. Second, the parallax effect is just so frigging cool, that I sometimes just look at my wallpaper just to see the effect in action. It's so ... Futuristic (not in the art ism kind of way, but in a "we are living in the 21st century" kind of way). Also, the parallax effect works with popups as well, which I discovered a few days ago when I wanted to change an option and suddenly the background started to shift. I wonder if a subtle shading would further improve the effect? Last but not least, it just seems more functional and better as a whole than IOS 6 did, though you should note that I didn't have too much time time with the previous OS to learn its ins and outs. If you wonder, I bought the Mini this spring and upgraded to the big brother in the summer - and yes, I know they'll release a new one soon (supposedly) but I'll stick with this and skip next gen, and upgrade to the one after that. Oh and if you wonder, I got myself the 128 GB version as it was only $50 more than the 64 GB version.
As for the snus, having been a heavy snuser and smoker for the better part of two decades, I have slowly but surely been switching to snus entirely. I know it's not 100% healthy, but it's tastier, cheaper, lasts longer and last but not least, it's still healthier than smoking cigarettes. I just ordered more snus for about $250, and wjile I still jat left from my last batch, I just couldn't prevent myself from ordering more and new tastes. Predominantly Oden's snus, and Thunder snus, along with some Jakobssons. Those three brands are my favorites snus brands by far. The tastes are perfect, the strength is just marvellous and thefpouches are soft, filled to the brim and lasts for at least an hour. This time I oredered some more tobacco flavored which go well with coffee, and some subtly flavored (cinnamon, lime, some fruit) which go well with tea and are just perfect for the times you want a break from the tobacco flavour, but still want the nicotine. These snuses are quite strong though, and not recommended for "snewbies".
Nothing new onfthe audio front though, except that I think I want to sell my Pro 900 and the D2000. I just prefer cheaper headphones over them, such as the HD25 and the M50. Don't know why, but music feels more engaging with headphones with smaller soundstages imo. Perhaps buy the new iPhone 5s for the money, since I currently don't have a phone except for my work phone, which I feel less and less inclined to use for personal matters, even though they've literally said it's okay to do as much as I want to. For the sake of my sanity, I understand that I need to separate my work from personal life, and a good start is to get a personal phone.
GTA V vs Saints Row IV: I haven't made up my mind yet. I love the silliness factor of SRIV, but I also love everything in GTAV. GTA feels bigger, more serious, and as if Rockstar put a lot more effort into making it a real life gangster simulation than the SRIV team did, however, SRIV is clever, bordering to genius, in it's own ways. The idea of making SRIV a simulation within a game, opens up for so many creative things, and so many outrageous stunts, yet it all makes sense - it's a simulation, it's not meant to be realistic and make sense. GTAV on the other hand is meant to make sense, which it does for the most part. They're both masterpieces in their own ways, and I think this generation it really doesn't even make much sense to compare them since they're so different despite being so alike. I love both games, and I play both of them frequently.
Edit: Also, I finished reading Y - The Last Man. Such a good comic book story. It's about this young man who, together with his monkey, is the last man alive since something wiped out all the other men in the world. Now, this would seem like a paradise for most men (or a nightmare), but he has a girlfriend/fiancée in Australia, which makes things a bit more complicated. The president of USA wants him to get to a scientist who should help save the world by figuring out why he survived and not the other men, and sends one of her bodyguards/agents to escort him. Things don't always go as planned obviously, and it becomes more of an post-apocalyptic adventure with a lot of twists and such. Really recommendable imo, and if you like comic books and haven't read it, you owe it to yourself to read it.
