The seller got 4 positive reviews for these phones ... was worth the risk for me.

They are obviously fakes. The seller uses Sony's pictures at the top of the listing, but at the bottom shows a picture of the obviously fake product, which is radically different.

   There are about 15 or more positive "feebacks" on Ebay dealing with low priced XB700s ... and only one negative. Fake or not, that is a nice % of satisfied buyers. No way i was going to pay $150/$200 for those discontinued cans. Which is why I considered the price risk ratio was in my favor.

The fake xb700s are very common. I'm pretty sure all coming from china are fakes. People who buy them often have no idea they are fake since they have not owned the original. 
The fake version is also incredibly cheap feeling in all aspects. I would say they are not even worth the ~$30 price.
I recommend people not buy unless the seller provides actual pictures.

Yeah, looking at the listing Currawong posted, the headphones don't look anything like the real ones, and at least those ones wouldn't be ghost productions. But after having been introduced to better headphones, I sold my XB700's, and now don't think they're worth the original $80 street price, let alone the current $150 used going price.

  I used to have the XB700 about two  ... and I do have a "real" XB500 which is not a balanced can at all to my ears ... but I did like the XB700s ... however i doubt I will remember the sound. I will put up some photos when i get the XB700s in question ... but i seriously doubt that over 20 people could not tell if they  greatly differ visually from a "real" one ... sound wise maybe they might be fooled even if they liked the sound ...  but not visually ... if its painted gold or whatever ... anyway my "real" XB500s sound horrible ... and at $150/$200 the (also possibly fake) XB700s being sold now are not for me.    BTW the photos alluded to have been used by a few different sellers on Ebay ... and photos are photos not physical reality ... but we will see what Santa brings me. And don't forget good people we are talking about $45.00 delivered ... and since almost everyone who actually owns the low priced XB700s liked the sound its worth the fun of reading your posts. Anyway I am lucky to be a music lover not an audiophile ... and even if I do play around a bit with hardware ... I derive great musical enjoyment from almost any audio setup. Actually now that I think of it ... I have never heard a system or setup so terrible that the joy of music didn't caress my spirit and soul.

Doesn't it look like it's an official/authorized Sony retailer however, if that matters for the picky.  Still tempting though... the cheapness in me wonders if these will keep going lower, lol.
