I think most of us just leave it on as the restart battery usage would probably exceed the standby battery usage.

Does your 1A always rebuild the database during startup? Mine always does that and it has FE CFW installed. The database rebuild takes around 20 seconds for +1000 songs in my sdcard. Is it normal?

Normal. Just don’t turn it off. I’ve not turned mine off for 4 years except a very few occasions where I knew I wouldn’t use it for a prolonged period

Hey guys, 1A is ordered and on it`s way to me. Though i`m questoning myself the whole time... I read all this 72 pages thread and lurked in the 3000+ one as well (for quite a long time)

Personal info:
I`m an 42 year old guy, classical pianist by trade, listen to all kind of music as long as it`s a good recording. Classical, hard metal, blues, country, pop, obscure noise, jazz, whatever really. Also got tube amps driving both closed and open baffle speakers as my hifi system.

Question 1:
1. Would the new android based 507 sony be as good SQ vise?
I mostly play 24 bits 48kHz trough sennheiser 265 linear and future sonics M5 Atrio using my ipod 5.5g classic with installed rockbox, ssd/new battery.

Question 2:
Will it really sound better than my 5.5g ipod with rockbox os? (Ipod can play my 24bit/48kHz (I know it downsamples to 16bit/44.1kHz)

Question 3:
If I decide to keep the wm1a, I should 1. Uncap the lvl 2. Change it to J or E 3. Install midnight.
Or am I mistaking?

I honestly hope this is a good upgrade from 5.5g ipod, been my faitfull companion right from when it came into marked

1 Not IMO.

2 Pass as don have the same gear, would like to think it will, technically it should do.

3 Definitely uncap the sound level. Regions vary so best to see for yourself, J & E are solid choices. Custom firmware again personal preference, I prefer DMP-WM1 FEv2 something you just need to try.

I'd also leave the DAP stock for the first 100 hours as the sound signature will change, so any initial thoughts on region & firmware will change.

I`m concidering saving for new cans as well, the hd 265 linear have been great, for me. Though they are really showing theire age. Sound is still perfect though.

Any Mac users successfully come up with a way to automatically add tracks to the Walkman when connected and then move those tracks elsewhere so they don't get re-synced? I've been messing with Carbon Copy Cloner to launch a task when the device is connected but I can't figure out how to get it to move the tracks to a different location so they don't get copied again the next time.

hole crap that`s alot of CFW`S haha. Those CFW, is it possible to possible to put them all in a google drive folder or similar? I`m just wondering honestly, I can understand if not possible couse of owners rights etc. @nc8000 @Gamerlingual
