…and I just saw this, thanks @Queen6 ! 🤜🤛

I’ll give region E a go later tonight, otherwise toggling Direct off for the few very treble-hot albums I have would work well as I mentioned in my post.
If you consider the geographical coverage E is a good bet for mixed genre's of music, where the likes of CN is more specific to a singular taste with a hotspot at 8K. MX3 is very good, however it can be wearing with highly resolving IEM's/HP's, although E pushes the treble it also takes the edge off to prevent listener fatigue.

FWIW Region E needs some time and will sound rough on a new WM1A/Z, once past the first couple of hundred hours a very different story.

Q-6

Thanks! My WM1A unit has 550-600 hours on it, so I should be fine there. Much appreciated!

I think you can just buy a TPU case from AliExpress, along with dust plugs and a screen protector. I bought mine from a local marketplace but it is from China anyways.

Believe me when I say you will wanna protect your investment. Nothing gives more regret than knowing a case would have prevented that scratch or dent.
Yeah, I do wanna protect my WM1A. Thanks for the AliExpress tip. I was used to buying from Amazon, but it has become rather poorly stocked and, in the current economic context, expensive as well.

Not loving what I’ve seen of the new Android M2s so I decided to just go for endgame with the 2016-2018 signature series collection while I still can get them brand new. Coming from the 1A and M9, N3. Hopefully you guys don’t see me on this forum for the next 5-6 years 😂

Well, I am quite pleased with Shure SRH1840 headphones balanced on my Sony NW-WM1Z.

Still so excellent even with difficult to drive IEMs like the FitEar DC. Amazing listen after all these years. :)

No doubt- Shure headphones seem to be a good match with the WM1A/Z, the SRH-1540s are great with them, even single-ended.

I agree. I have SRH1540 and SRH1840. NW-WM1Z and NW-WM1A. Balanced cables for all. The neutral, musical signature of the SRH1840 is quickly growing on me. I will still always love the warmth of the 1540. Best of both worlds.

I’m really disappointed that the new Sony’s are android. I’ll be sticking to my wm1z as it won’t age in a bad way unlike the the wm2z!

If sales are low, maybe they'll offer a non Android version.

I don’t think the new ones will get such a following as the ones we all have

Heard people talk a lot about 1A and Z1R combo but not much about IER M9. Has anybody tried the 1A with IER M9? Just curious about this combo?

No. Most likely not. They need identical units with double the output power and the same battery life.

Yeah I did before at an audio store. It gave a neutral warm kind of vibe which was quite enjoyable. Male vocals sounded very intimate and the staging and layering was decent.

However, the midbass warmth is too much for my liking. If you like the M9+1A pairing, may I suggest you try the CA Andro 2020 with 4.4 in the WM1A? It tames the mid bass "bloat" and warmth but retains the sweetness in vocals. The highs are identical.

Do remember to keep the volume low when you swap to the andro as it has very very low impedance.
