THE COMPOSER OPEN BACK FLAGSHIP by AUSTRIAN AUDIO

Fortunately I can classify what a poorly designed and engineered driver is from a proper one and you can’t 🤣
Please stop spreading such accusations here without a shred of evidence.
This is bordering on vulgarity.

Sorry to write this so drastically.

Are you suggesting that Nomax is a paid consultant for Austrian Audio? I hope you've got your ducks all in a row.
I have known NOMAX personally for a long time, he is not an employee or marketing manager of any company - but he knows a lot of people (including developers) at headphone manufacturers.
He gives tips, but is also blunt when he doesn't like something.

The foam is very firmly glued on.
I thought the image in question confirmed it was a strong double-sided adhesive tape?

In the image, the 'tape' path also deviates over the driver mesh cover, so in my mind there is little chance that it is glue.
No modern manufacturer in their right mind would ever use (semi)permanent glue on their product, especially on a 'consumable' part, like foam.
Tape just makes more sense to me, from the photos and a logical point of view.

I don't think that servicing that specific piece of foam will be a regular maintenance procedure like exchanging the pads. And those are very easy to change. I gather AA felt the need to have that foam firmly in place and did their best to ensure its functioning. It will be available as a spart part (why do I repeat myself again and again even?) and I'm sure they went with the balance between serviceability and function they saw fit. Again, they don't do all this for the first time like some boutique company still learning the ropes.
New constructions sometimes exhibit unexpected behavior when out in the wild. But with some parts wear is simply unavoidable (pads, headband).
An alternative to foam is spacer fabric (3Dmesh from Müller). It was developed for cars and is also used in acoustics.
https://www.mullertextiles.com/en/spacer-fabrics/

But of course it has to match the overall design.
For example here - Optional Cushions https://mysphere.at/shop/

I only meant glued - but not written with what! I assume it's a double-sided adhesive tape, but I haven't looked into it any further.
But now it's time to tick off the subject of foam and philosophise about its sound properties.

I didn't say so but for some imaginations can stretch far. One duck will be enough :)

Selective reading are we? At that rate you should just marry the guy.

My apologies too for being blatant.
That's not at all how civilised discussion works - do you want to look like a troll now?

Seriously, no offense, you talk of civility but did you even give any civility of knowing how the conversation got to the point of what you quoted me? I just responded in kind. Anyway, this is too irrelevant already. Don't want the mods to be service cleaning up the thread again.

Sorry for the off-topic, but can I assume you're using a translator app from German to English?

Since you wrote "I only meant glued" - the glued part sounds like a bad translation for 'stuck' or 'adhered-to', which is what I think you meant to write.
Since "glued" means that glue (flussiger klebstoff) was used, while the German word "kleben" means multiple things.

If that is true, I think that might be responsible for quite a few of the misunderstandings going on recently.
I've been reading your text from a German-reader's POV, so it never sounded weird to me, but I can see how some native English speakers might have misunderstood the motivation behind some of the words.

Yes, according to AA it’s adhesive tape

I have had a contract with them for decades🤪...in which it is written that they have to satisfy me....This is my favorite form of remuneration 😎
(Unfortunately, they did not succeed with the K872)

NOMAX

Ps.But they have succeeded with the Composer 👍
I'm not suggesting that you are, Nomax. This thread needs to be sanitised of these ridiculous accusations

Or perhaps we can put together a faq about foam and nomax so that we don't have to revisit these topics every few days.
