You seem to be a real specialist. Could you please name me 2-3 headphones with good drivers, so we all know, what to buy next.Fortunately I can classify what a poorly designed and engineered driver is from a proper one and you can’t![]()

Yes, pure speculation.
My bet is that AA people know what they are doing. They are not doing this for the first time. And I guess they know about the properties of foam. And distortion. Might even have measured it during development.
Why does this thread attract the most useless speculation, especially from people who have not even touched the object in question? And bring up the same tired points again and again, oblivious to all prior discussion?

Not about to entertain that.. foam has been entertaining enough. You seem to be a real specialist. Could you please name me 2-3 headphones with good drivers, so we all know, what to buy next.
Pros and cons of foam is not speculation and yes 100% AA knows what they are doing. It’s the application and relation to servicing or replacing the filter is the concern and I don’t have to own one to know that.Yes, pure speculation.

So you agree and is favorable of how the foam filter is attached? With adhesive? Coz I’m sure there are better ways that’s more customer friendly.

You could also put in one that slips and doesn't sit tight and thus has a detrimental effect on the performance

How playful and easy the foam exchange is about it, AA will certainly also make a video

I am wondering if tensioned foam adhered only at very edges is strong enough to handle unfortunate scenarios like accidental falls or pokes. I agree that’s not “normal use” and acceptable risk. It's not especially poor design, you're just adding extra stuff again. The foam shouldn't tear under normal use.if you actuslly saw a composer i seriously doubt you be throwing shade on it's construction.
There is no way this thread about a rare new headphone gets to 182 pages without many useless posts. I think its the incredulous pro-manufacturer comments that attracts naysayers like myself. Perhaps Composer is better suited for Summit-Fi sub-forum where users are less conservative with their dollars. Why does this thread attract the most useless speculation, especially from people who have not even touched the object in question? Are you required to have personal relationship with vendor first?Because they are bored.....Maybe I should also start with it in the other threads

I don't think that servicing that specific piece of foam will be a regular maintenance procedure like exchanging the pads. And those are very easy to change. I gather AA felt the need to have that foam firmly in place and did their best to ensure its functioning. It will be available as a spart part (why do I repeat myself again and again even?) and I'm sure they went with the balance between serviceability and function they saw fit. Again, they don't do all this for the first time like some boutique company still learning the ropes.Pros and cons of foam is not speculation and yes 100% AA knows what they are doing. New constructions sometimes exhibit unexpected behavior when out in the wild. But with some parts wear is simply unavoidable (pads, headband).

Unfortunately sometimes 2k is considered midrange nowadays... not that I like that stance though.

Compromise is always a double edge sword. I’m hoping and leaning on the positive side of that.I don't think that servicing that specific piece of foam will be a regular maintenance procedure like exchanging the pads. Then I shall rest my case.
