I recently listened to Norah Jones and became to really like her. I didnt listen to jazz before but now I am looking for other good jazz. Preferably the ones that suitable for young people. Any recommendation?

Diana Krall
Katie Melua
Feist
Gabriella Cilmi's first album (Lessons To Be Learned) had a jazz/soul feel about it - her newest one is awful though (don't go there)
Not Jazz - more on the soul side - Adele - immensely powerful voice
...also, try Jane Monheit, Melody Gardot and for really young, try Renne Olstead on her "Summertime" release.
Norah isn't jazz but she does have a seductively sweet voice IMO.

Wow. Nina Simone and Eartha Kitt on the same list as Bjork. At first I was like What. Then I started remembering Eartha Kitt during the Vietnam years. She was a lot like Bjork. Not a passive "just sing the songs" type. And then I remembered when I first started to listen Simone back in the 70's. Besides being a singer she was an interesting person. Just a very good list and one I need to check out more. This is such a very good thread. It is educational and also reminds me of people who, for no good reason, I haven't listened to in some time. One of the things that makes head-fi forums my fave place these days.
I still don't care for Bjork.

these five persons are my favorites
Ella fitzgerald
Norah Jones
Cassandra Wilsons
Praticia barber
and the new found is "Shiho" from the band "Fried Pride"
Actually I like all kind of music,Soul singers are great too,but in the end,I think I love the Jazz singers the most.

For me its deff vocal trance artists such as Audrey Gallagher, Sarah Howells, Ana Criado, Susana, etc...
I just love how delicate and airy their vocals sound. It's surreal.

In terms of pure tone, for me very few touch Leona Lewis. Her phrasing, range, tone, everything is there. She's far too underrated imo.
