Nice flip of my original post, but here's a question: Besides rock, what would be another genre of "modern (read: post-'60s) music" that the Beatles influenced more than the Stones? Just curious…

They pioneered a large number of recording and mastering techniques that are used in essentially every album released today, for starters.

How is a "recording" or "mastering technique" a genre of music? I mean, Les Paul did that, too, and some of his innovations were even popularized by the Beatles. That's more technological, rather than musical, influence, no?

Men were executed, women bled
Meat and fish changed hands and
children stayed up late
Uh, huh
Coloured drums they ?displace? the night
There's a taxidemist looking for a fight
But now he's gone, oh yeah
Only the stones remain
Girls were decked with flowers and violated ?while?
Boys spat juice from a, out of
their fresh young ?bones?
Soldiers crossed their hearts and
died _____ pretty girls turned
cold inside
But now they're gone, oh yeah

Only the stones remain
Oh they're gone, yeah
Only the stones remain
And the stones have forgotten them
The stones have forgotten them
They brake your body and drain the life out of it
It sinks into the soil while the soul
flies up into the air above
and when there's no more tears to cry
There's nothing left to do but laugh
State led collabarations collapse and
cannibis evaporates, honey
Only the stones remain
(Here they going)
Oh yeah, only the stones remain
Woah
Now they're gone, oh yeah
Only the stones remain
Oh yeah, only the stones remain

Rightly or wrongly, I have always thought of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones being the two sides of the British Rock n' Roll coin. Light v. Dark, Smooth v. Rough, Sophisticated v. "Crude" etc. I like them both and recognize the influence of both, but if I had to pick one I would go with The Stones...

Interesting point.....I don't dispute it if I were forced to pigeonhole the two bands.......however.... I feel The Beatles were far more capable of being Crude than the Stones were capable of being sophisticated.
