Good news, just ordered an M-Audio Q40 with a spare 3.5 audio cable. I already have some velour Beyer pads to swap with, but l'll see how the stock ones go. Hopefully once they arrive ill do a comparison between them and the M50's.

Considering the Q40 comes with pleather pads, the velours will likely reduce the bass.

Yeah, another member (Oregonian) pointed that out. He also said that he likes the srh840's pads best on the Q40. If the stock pads dont do the job i think i'll get the 840 pads.

Actually I like the 840 pads as a budget swap, love the Alpha pads for endgame. Have them on my Q40 right now.

congrats to the person who just got his 770's. great cans for sure. i found that after some eqing they become even better. its funny, i was at the market the other day and i saw some guy wearing his obviously old and worn out (the pads were squished way down on his head) dt 770s as he was walking. its so rare seeing anyone sporting anything other than beats that i literally stared at his head as he walked by... i hope i didnt embarrass him too much...

I just sold my xb500 just because I love my xb910 so much. For the money I bought another pair of xb910 in case sony discontinues them or mine breaks or so. So I have two of them now. Knowing Sony and their way of handling things, the XB line could be cut anyday for any reason, just alltogether.

I haven't heard the UE headphones, but I really dig the looks of UE9000 (its over 9000!!!).

... I might need to hear the 910 [or is it 920] tbh...

Oh crap that's a tough call q.q

I'll put it to you this way, teh XB 700 is better for EDM ALL DAY EVERY DAY, how ever as some one who used his XB 700 for EDM and NOT emd... I wish I had the UE 6000

SO seeing as I'm pretty sure you might branch into other genres some day, the UE 6000 is the smart buy. How ever if your dead set on EDM ALL DAY ERRR DAY, then the XB 700 is uber fun and you'll enjoy it lots :D [plus the XB 700 has a fun mod you can and should do for it]

PLEASE for your own sake get the 700s. They are so rare you probably won't find another pair again, jump on the opportunity.

Oh yeah, they sound great. Nice bass, both mid and sub bass, strident yet smooth trebles yet somewhat recessed mids. I'm reminiscing, by the way, why did I have to lose my XB700s? They were my first proper headphone.

Mine too, part of me wishes I kept them... and part of my doesn't... I out grew them so to speak.

They where EPIC when I had them but... now I sit and stare at my [Wood back] D2k... thinking... this bass... need's to be tightened a little! xD not sure the XB 700 would last in my current aresenal!

No there is a need, I sold my HE 400, the mids where wonky and there wasn't as much bass as I thought there way tbh. I had to eq it, where as with my D2k It's fine without EQ

that said the HE 400 is an awesome CAN if you can add a little EQ to it! I would keep your HE 400 for at home, and use your XB 700 on the go, the XB 700 is great because you can use something like a Fiio E11 to amp it, and it's stellar

the HE 400 on the other hand isn't as good as a portable, I tired using it as a portable and well as I said now it's sold... or rather traded for a D2k

honestly though the HE 400 had a MUGH tighter bass than the D2k, but it wasn't... enough, as I said with eq it's perfect but I can't EQ on the go with my amps or my DAP, and the issue with the D2k is, the stock D2k [as in no mods] is a little to loose for me, so again I'd keep the HE 400 for home and use the XB700 or UE 6000 on the go :3

I will use all my full size headphones at home as I have my dunu dn-1000 for portable. So i guess the HE-400 isn't really a "basshead" can? I don't consider myself a basshead but I do like some emphasis on bass, so I guess the HE-400 will do that while I get a real "basshead" can like the UE 6000 or the Sony XBs. My budget for bass heavy cans isn't high tho, as I will only be using them for dubsteps, etc. Are the UE 6000 and Sony XBs my best bet under $200? Actually preferably under $150 lol cuz the UE 6000 is $99 on amazon right now.

Actually, for that budget the Q40 is probably the best basshead can made.
