Does the coiled version pull the headphones to one side because of the weight of the wire? Can't decide between straight vs coiled. Using these with my phone and computer so a mix of both portable / home use.

^ I can only imagine that the coiled cable would be a bit heavier since there is technically more cable in the given amount of space.

They do here in Europe but it took ages to get them - almost three months and a number of phone calls after I paid them by bank transfer. They are quite easily replaceable. No tools needed.
 
The headband, on the other hand, is an altogether different story. Mine was looking like a leather couch that had been dumped in the woods. One needs to unscew and unsolder the right capsule to replace it. It can be done with decent tools and a steady hand but it's nothing for the faint of heart.

god dang... I haven't picked these up for a while and I've been listening to the custom one's as my computer headphone.... just went back to M50s... god there must be something wrong with my ears because I just sink back to my M50s every time, with every headphones. The exception being the HD25, which just does everything so  differently :/  I like the M50s way too much... - - , one of the only headphones that can make me overlook my love for bass (like seismic bass)...

I seem to be having the same issue. I'm hoping the AKG K267's or V-MODA M-100's pull me out of it though, but so far, nothing has.

My DT880 Pro certainly has. The M50 hasn't seen much use, lately.

Got my ATH-M50. Burned in with pink/white noise for about 12 hours so far. The sound isn't that great comparing them to my Klipsch S4 in-ear buds. Does the sound get better after longer burn-in?

hey guys! im now having a dilemma on whether should i get beyer 770/880/990 or the M50's 
i usually listen to almost every music genre, (35% sentimental music such as, John Mayer, More than words-extreme, blake shelton), (30% pop music such as payphone,call me maybe), (25%rock such as, Linkin park, A7x-Dear god), and probably (10% techno, such as Skrillex), so are the M50 suitable for me or should i go for other headphones? i've also considered sennheisers 558/600 or 650hd.
but i would prefer getting 50%bass and 50% clarity so the bass does on overlap the clarity and vice versa.

Nothing wrong with the M50. It's just that the 880 is much better. And a lot more comfortable.

The beyer will be better of course but you need a good amp/dac, if you want to plugged directly to iPod/laptop you'll probably better with M50

It's semi-open actually. DT990s is the fully open one

Semi open, but the isolation is nowhere near as good as on the M-50.
