I wish that the myths of burning in would go away, I'm not saying it doesn't happen, I mean those who perpetuate the odd ways it should be done. I saw one guy who had his burning in process in his signature switching between brown and pink noise of various bit rates. I couldn't help but laugh. Seriously burning in happens by just listening to them, enjoy.

What myth?

Well myth wasn't really a good word, but people go overboard about burn-in claiming you need to do it a certain way. That's bologna, normal listening will allow them to break in just like other's weird pink noise/brown noise rituals.

Also, you feel that the FXT90 are equal to the CKM500?

Keanex. You gotta try this. Throw your CKM500 on a Drum n Bass CD crank fairly loud 70-80% of max volume. leave it for a good 80-100 hours. Then hear that bass again.. Might surprise you..It doesn't flatten the bass completely but it does tone and tighten, which is worth trying out for you. They are somewhat bass heavy on open box vs fully loose one..Try it out.

Even after several hundred hours of use they still have just a touch to much bass for me for certain genre's. For rock/metal the GR01 for me are much much better. The bass on the CKM500 is fun but its not quite reference quality bass. The GR01 just bests the CKM500 in every way except for bass quantity, which depending on the person will be a good or bad thing. Nobody will call the GR01 bass heavy, but they arent bass shy or cold sounding either.

As for tips for the ckm, the Meelec wide bore tips are the way to go.

They better be. They cost 3 times the ckm500!! Why did anyone say they were equal?

I've been giving them a lot of bass tests through various DnB, beats, and hip-hop music, no worries here! These things shine with bass heavy music without being too overly assertive. The bass seems to be lightening up, or I'm getting used to it.

One of these days i need to A/B the CKM500 against the dual driver Brookstones to see if i can sell off the CKM's. I put the Brookstones in the other day and was actually surprised how similar they sounded to the CKM.
