I wonder if the first edition will have anything different besides the label "first edition". Been wanting a pair since the Q701s were my favorite before and been excited for this.

& the Grado PS 500 as well... Just started
listening with my fostex hp-a8c and the AKG's
sound really good... Using a Zu Audio Mobius2
Cable though so maybe I'm cheating!!!

I owned 701s before and these 7XXs have a different soundscape  (as it were).  These are softer, less forward to my ear's and  rolled off with respect to the upper octaves or just plain old treble.  There was a post a while back with a link to a frequency response curve for this headphone and several others.
That said I find them very comfortable even after hours of listen.  I enjoy the less aggressive treble because the mids are well represented. .  So Caveat emptor as always.  I understand that the used market for them is hot right now, so I don't think you'll lose a ton o money trying them out.

I just got an email from them saying it's added to the drop but still the "request item" page on their website. Maybe it'll be updated soon?

yep.. I see I received that email as well but ..... I guess we wait and see. Not sure how they can release more first edition models unless they held onto a certain number of them with the intention to put them up for sale at a later date? that doesn't make much sense however.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they've already dropped it trice and each time selling the batch of 2,000 units but who knows. They did say that only 6,000 units are planned to to be sold "for now" so I'm guessing there was a lot of demand for these.

Looks like about 4,700 pairs were sold in the 3 previous drops, leaving about 1,300. Assuming a fair chunk of those were taken up as exchanges for faulty units (the buzzing issue), that probably leaves a few hundred units. Sure they'll show up on the "Buy" page soon enough.

I guess I was wrong then lol my friend's unit also had a buzzing unit but mine didn't. Although the plastic slider on the left side recently snapped though pretty bummed

This is on the MassDrop site from I believe was the last drop so...... not sure how many can possibly be available(unless they updated the info recently prior to open up this last drop) But this is not how it reads. a bit confusing.
