I got a $20 bill for the guy who gets serial # 001978 and wants to trade me for my pair (BOTH UNOPENED)   We should be able to see the serial numbers with the shrink wrap still on. I'll pay shipping for both, so long as I feel I can trust you, and you are not on the other side of the world!

$20US would definately not be enought to hold me off from trying out my set, but good luck to you Sir

Hmm, yeah it'll be hard for me to look at an unopened box while I wait for a pm that may not come.    But I gotta ship two pairs of phones like 2nd day (or USPS priority) plus $20 which will be probably $60 before all is said and done.  That's about as much as I want to pay for a serial number.  But it would be nice.

I'll do the same deal for 000078, 000762, 000556, or 001776.

-edit-

or 000512

Which gives us some food to think about your birthdate
Or what else are your motivations?

I'm actually guessing it has more to do with his hobby / avatar ......

Guessing the 762 and 556 are calibres  - right?  .762 = 30 cal.  And the 556 was the original calibre for the M16, and commonly used in most NATO ordinance.

Not sure if the 1776 refers to "1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms!"

Just guessing here

Whoa, don't read too much into it.  Just trying to think of the coolest serial numbers under 2000.

But yeah 7.62mm and 5.56mm are two standard NATO rifle calibers that happen to make cool serial #s (I think) under 2000. (along with a long list of other calibers and model #'s of firearms, cars ,guitars, motorcycles, etc.  And 1776 is the year this country (the US) was born.  I was born in 1978. So 1776 is the next best year. (a much better and more important year actually, but at risk of sounding jingoistic, I think I'd rather have 1978 or or just 78 on my headphones.)  No calls for revolution or anything folks.  If you study history that usually doesn't turn out as well as the people who started it wanted it to.  (The existence and success of this country being a remarkable and very unusual exception.)   We don't need a revolution in this country.  We need a well educated and informed population.   But this is not about politics!  It's about headphones!

What a Patriot.

Well I've been called worse.   Can't a guy try to get a cool serial #?

To the guy who gets #000512 if you're on this forum I've got a $25 plus your shipping if you want to trade. Same goes for # 001978 or 000078. Best offer.  That plus shipping both ways is as much as the cool factor is worth to me.

$20 for 000762, 000556, or 001776 but I'm struggling with that idea because of the shipping costs.  Takes a really big bite out of the massdrop deal having to pay to re-ship two of them. And honestly if I was you, I'd feel lucky and want to keep those serial #s.  (Unless you hate America like Mr. Mad Lust Envy here.  In that case I'll buy your lunch/dinner and trade you for something less patriotic.

If they do "XX1234" serials instead of 001234 or whatever that's even better IMO.

Remember *NEW*  In the shrink wrap, box in perfect condition with photos before the deal.  If interested PM me.

That is all gentlemen. (and ladies)

AKG are just to big for me. Tried some other model in Best Buy and the cups are so big for my ears, I could literally place a earbud and a medium sized headphone along with this. My ears are not small but I do wish AKG could use Sony size of cups as they fit me perfectly.
The pair I have here is serial number 5. I know there are a few more demo units floating around, so I'm not sure how that factors into thing. The page says the first 250 customers are guaranteed a serial under 300, which leaves some wiggle room I guess.

I agree that the K601/701 family has always been a very large headphone. It doesn't necessarily look all that huge in pics but it really is big. Unlike Audeze, the size doesn't translate to weight, and it's still quite comfy.

Not sure how this model will influence priced on used 65th Editions. I imagine sound and build are very close, despite the different locations. Then again I think the later 65th runs had angled pads so that could be a factor.

Any idea when the drop will be reopened?  I just went on and tried to buy but it said to request, so I did that but just trying to get an idea of how the process works since never used MassDrop before.

Thanks,
Hunter

Anybody else here super-hesitant about spending $200 for a pair of headphones? I know this if head-fi, and headphones are priority #1 for me too... but $200....

I was tearing my head over this for a few days until I decided that I had enough and went into Stereo Exchange and demanded a listening session with the HD800's. And the DT7880 pro's. and the Grado sr325i. and the b&w p7's and the Beyer T90's and the HE560's and the HD600's and the 650's and.... you get the point

$200 is quite a standard price level for the standard head-fier, from what I have experienced. $200-300 range is a really strong bracket in terms of what's out there. So good that I feel the law of diminishing returns truly starts there. You would need to jump to 2-3x the cost to get the next level of improvement, which is not going to completely trump really good headphones in the price range.
