The AKG K712 Pro Support and Impressions Thread

Yesterday I received my K712. With 24 hours of non stop burn in, these things sound fabulous. I also own the Q701, and I was struck by the improved bass response. I'm running them thru a Schitt Lyr with stock tubes and sourced with a NAD 565BEE CD player. Sounds killer to me.

ok so which are better the k712 or the annies   ?

They probably sound exactly the same. Nobody has said otherwise yet or given them a review.

Suggestion: Save your money and get a Q701 with Anniversary pads.

Cost is probably around $300.

You don't get the good headband, which is so worth it over the Q701 bumps.

+1

As having owned both, and having a bald head, the bumps on the Q701 used to leave imprints on my head lol... seriously. I tried different light mods (child seatbelt cover, beyer headband pad) and it just made them look too goofy for me.

The Annies are now the most comfortable headphone I've ever tried (photo finish race with the X1)

I sent you a PM with my response to avoid getting off topic... since this is technically the K712 thread and not the Annie thread.

Today I get my new toys :D

From left:
AKG K601 (serial number: 10686) - this one is actually my old toy but with new pads.
ASUS Xonar Essence One Muses Edition - connected via toslink to Xonar STX (because of gaming )
and the main guest: AKG K712 Pro - with serial number 000103. Which I think is the proof that K712 is recolored K702 65th.

If someone is interested in I can do some review/comparison between those. I also have K550 (not at the photo, I keep them at work). But I am not really audiophile or any audio/music specialist so I won't be great review. If someone is interested I also have pads (angled?) from K702 (if I would know that they are different from K701 I would try got those too), so small pad-mods is also possible.

Are you saying there is a link between the serial number and  there being proof that the K712 is a recolored Annie? I'm not seeing why so I may be misunderstanding you.

I remember that someone in K702 65th thread quoted someone from AKG that they are using numbers from 0-100 (or 0-500, or even 0-1000) for they internal tests. So it would be impossible to buy those headphones. Because my headphones have really low number and there were few people who had them already so AKG would not have enouth test-headphones to create "new" product. So I believe that they just recolored Annies. And if there were any changes except color, they are very small.

Let's say 0-100 were for testing. You have 103. I have no idea how many people in the world own a pair. But irregardless, you may somehow have gotten the 3rd. I think the only thing you can be certain of from the serial number is that you have number 103, just as much the previous post knows he has #127.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on the K550 vs. K712!
