Why do I have the strongest feeling that these are the exact same things as the anniversary's?

Oh wait, its probably because they are...

Well, obviously their retail prices are a joke.

But... you can easily find K/Q70X's for less than $200 new. $150~$175 used. At those prices, they are quite the bargain.

Not in the UK. £250 is the Amazon price and the used rate is £170ish for the K701. Not horriffic, but not great either. Still, it doesn't give me nightmares like the Hifiman and Audeze UK prices.

K712 Pro = mass production K702 Anniversary.

It's obvious. 3d bass boost = exactly what the Annie did over the standard K702

Come on guys. You know by now how much AKG loves rebadging.

Razordog is selling the Annie for $375 with a coupon. That is a steal, considering the level of awesomeness that is the Annie.

Well, you must be joking. Do you know how much k701 and Q701 cost?

£250 roughly, £150-180 second hand. The stupidly price black Q701 doesn't count since it's much more expensive than any other model. I was referencing a previous comment about the K712 costing €459 where he was(Netherlands). See below.

Dont know, but up here the price is EUR 459

Like I said. AKG pricing strategy is a joke and the company itself feels like it's doing the headphone equivalent of EA and rehashing the same model every year with minor revisions.

That's exactly what I was thinking. The Annie buyers were the test market!

More like the early buyer pay-up.   Anniversary edition was a way to milk a little money from the buyer with a "special edition" like many headphone manufacturer's do, before they release the new product. I'd bet after the initial release these headphones trickle down to current Q701 prices.

prediction: MLE will sell a bit of his collection and grab these
size]

I'll buy it just to prove they are recolored mass produced Anniversaries in a new color.

Not a bad thing. That just means they'll eventually come down in price, and more people will be able to enjoy that fantastic sound.

I like the color, but I still think the Annie is the best color scheme.

An orange ring like the 65 would be fine (although the blue is cooler), but the orange is plastered all over the K712 and it looks like the whole cable is orange aside from the plug.

I don't see them doing that. The Annie came down from it's MSRP price quite quickly. It was found at $400 relatively early, and now at least one seller has been constantly selling it for $400 or less with coupons.

At $375 right now, I'm tempted on rebuying the Annie. Buying a new Q701+Annie pads will be around that $325, and that doesn't even include the headband swap, which makes all the difference to me in comfort. No one likes the bumps.

I'm sure the K712 Pro will start around $400 street price, but go down to just over $300 soon after.

Even the K701 had a high MSRP. Now all these headphones hover at the $250 range.

I will definitely get the K712 Pro once it hits to around $300. It no longer has that limited color scheme and Anniversary branding, but it should hopefully be sold everywhere, and for fairly lower price. Ideally for $250-275. That would HONESTLY make them the best deal in mid-fi cans. I love them more than any other headphone that isn't the LCD2 and D7000.

I guess the best thing right now is to wait... If K712 phones are going to be similar or same as Annies, there will be way more of these AKGs available on the market and head-fi for trade/sale forum.

For 250 - 300USD, I would go for Annies/K712... 375USD is still too much if I can have Q701 for 200USD or less.
