...and be aware that the price is for a single earpad.

While we're are at it, out of curisosity i ordered the K702 pads for my K712's, but the memory foam pads are worlds more comfy(i wear glasses).
So they wouldn't be an option for me, even if they would offer better sound(which they do not for me).

K712's must be the best overall package at any price when you consider weight, comfort, resolution, bass-quality, soundstage, 3D-spaciousness.
If it sounds too dry(which i think it does), use a bit parametric-EQ and there is no competition when all attributes are considered(maybe EQ'ed HD800's, but those weight 1/3 more again).

Are you sure that those are the pads of the K712? Mine felt like the usual memory foam ones that you can find in other headphones too. Maybe I didn't notice the difference.
They're great anyway. When it comes to comfort you're not going to be disappointed with these.

It's the best package if you listen to well recorded music only (or use an amp/dac combo that can somewhat smooth those imperfections and make them sound less harsh).

I just got K712 today, it is made in Slovakia.
I can only say sound is amazing when you connect it directly into X-Fi Elite PRO.

Bass is so natural and real and also high frequencies are very nice.

I own K812, K872 too, but the differences are lesser than the price differences.

Yea i don't understand how much better can sound get, so this huge difference in price is just stupid.

In the same way you decided to pay 300usd or so for a K712 which provides similar experience to the 40usd Takstar HI2050 but a bit more refined. Someone else might decide to spend 1000usd on K812 for those very same reasons and if that's stupid, then paying 300usd for K712 is stupid as well.

  True.
That's why i will never buy headphones above 250€ it just not worth it.

What's 1000usd for someone could be 10usd for someone else. Money is relative.
In other words, 1000usd is little money for some people, K812 is made mostly for them.
Just like a Rolex Submariner cost much more than an Orient Mako and both are fine watches.

On a side note: K812 has higher distortion in the bass than K712

at K712 there are used more plastic
at K812, K872 there are used more metal (aluminium)

K812, K872 are complex constructed.

He has measured a different K812 unit with same results and there are other third party measurements for K712 and K812 showing this as well.

Not that I care too much for this stuff, I'm pretty sure the K812 might sound pleasing to my ears.
Just pointing out price means very little in the headphone world.
In my view, this is more about finding stuff you can pay that make you enjoy the music, nothing more.

On a new side note: HD800S has higher distortion in the bass than HD800, and most people prefer it anyway ; )

I own both. The k712 has more control in the bass, but the k712 sounds a bit overly energetic up top, the k812 has smoother treble and sounds more balanced overall. At least to my ears.
