The AK320 thread

Then why is the AK240 is more expensive?

Perceived value when it was released?  The high end DAP landscape changed a lot since then, partially with the Onkyo DP-X1 and VentureCraft Valoq at the $800 price point, AK needs to have the AK300 at that space to complete.

How is the new AK320 or even the AK300 compare to the old AK240? Ak240 is more expensive at $2500+, so which one best to buy for the money?

The prices for AK240 (SGD1999) and AK100 II (SGD899) are already dropping probably due to release of AK300 when you get them direct from SG distributer.

smart move to clear remaining stocks... while ak100ii might not sell well due to AK300, I believe the ak240 will sell rather well for a dual dac dap with native DSD playback which the more expensive ak320 doesn't...

design wise still prefer ak320/380 to ak240.

Who uses portable devices with DSD?  You can fit like 5 albums onto a 128 gb microSD card  (that was a joke, but seriously though, DSD takes up WAYYY too much space for use on mobile devices).

Also, the AK320 should use the same hardware as the AK380, which should perform better than the AK240.

Well, there are always purist around...

Minus the native DSD on AK240, AK320 will outperform AK240 in most aspect.

Well, I've bitten the bullet and bought an AK320.

I'm currently using an AK100 with Mojo which has great sound quality but I'm keen on a better display and a smaller overall package. I'm hoping that at last this will see me cured of upgradeitis!

It's arriving tomorrow, and now I just have to work out what to tell my wife.

Please post some impressions, I currently own the same setup AK100 II / Mojo and would like to hear your take versus the stack. Thx in advance.

Hi guys. I just ordered a AK320 too. I am currently using an AK Jr and seeking to upgrade. I have tried the new AK300 but don't feel there is much improvement from the Jr, so I tried the AK320 despite telling myself that the AK320 is too expensive. As expected, I got hooked after listening to it. I feel that my Jr sounds dull compared to the AK320. Guess there is a really big difference with a single DAC and double DAC.

Oh the plus point is I get a free AK Amp with the purchase of AK320 :)

Thanks! How do you like the AK320 compared to Jr? Not much review of AK320 online.

The amp I got is titanium colour. The original AK380 colour.

Did you try the amp? I am not sure what is the difference with and without the amp on a CIEM. Power wise, the player itself is more than enough. Not sure how much more musical can it get.

I just picked up a loaner AK320 this weekend.  I did some quick comparisons at THE Show Newport and found the AK320 to be a notable step up in SQ from the AK300 and AK100ii (my current DAP).  I'm looking forward to doing more thorough testing at home.

Had to send my AK320 back in for service (AK has been very responsive btw), and went back to my AK100ii after 4 weeks of the AK320.  The step down was much more noticeable than the step up!  Definitely worth the upgrade.  Can't wait to get my device back!

Got my AK320 back.  LCD replaced.  Looks perfect.  Service turn-around time was pretty fast.  Notice the micro-USB connector to be better seated and getting the cable in is easier now.    Also ordered the glass screen protector.   I had the "joy" of installing both a Zagg glass protector on my iPhone and the AK glass protector back to back.  The AK glass protector feels to be significantly higher quality.  The adhesive film is easier to lift up for adjustment.  The edges are very nicely rounded.
