Leon Redbone is a good source of acoustic music from that era and prior.

reminds me of "Whistle Stop" from the Robin Hood animated 1973 film...

And here are some of my favorites...:

Antoine Dufour - "Spiritual Groove"

Fink - "Looking Too Closely"

Old Crow Medicine Show - "Wagon Wheel"

Ray LaMontagne - "Jolene"

Zac Brown Band - "Chicken Fried"

*album = City & Colour - 'The Hurry And The Harm [Deluxe edition]'

Coleman Hawkins & Ben Webster
Fairground Attraction

Damien Rice & Ray LaMontagne have done some nice acoustic, or near-acoustic, stuff, too.

Béla Fleck: 'Tales From The Acoustic Planet 1,2, and 3', Double Time, Drive
Strength in Numbers: The Telluride Sessions
Nickel Creek
Alison Krauss+Union Station: 'So Long, So Wrong', 'Live'

You could spend a lifetime just exploring great bluegrass.

Agreed.

I'm not an expert on Bluegrass, but I credit Alison Krauss' early collection 'Now That I've Found You' for opening my eyes to Bluegrass, prior to which I would've utterly ignored it, from a stylistic point of view. It was the clarity, skill, and purity of the musicianship in the early work of Alison, Union Station, and The Cox Family, all of whom are showcased on that collection, that made me realise there was Bluegrass was worth a listen.

Alison Krauss & Jerry Douglas
