For clarification my V6 DAP mode works without any issues whatsoever. Listening with my power hungry Dan Clark Ether 2 in high power balanced mode at volume level ~55 of 100. At level 70 it gets too loud to my ears so enough power in this little brick. Sound quality is stellar. With the Hiby apps built in MSEB-lizer you can actually define your own DAC sound flavor. These setting actually have an discernible effect unlike the usual short-/slow-/sharp filters.
Have done a comparison with the Shanling M3X. Listened to 2PAC, Kate Bush, Pattie Smith. Also chose 'The Bluest Blues', Alvin Lee. That track is a bit like cooking with just a few ingredients, no hiding place for the 'taste' of the music. The TempoTec has "2 x AK4493SEQ chips and the MX3 has 2 x ES9219C chips. They are so closely tuned it is hard to hear any differences between them. With 2PAC bass is so similar it was hard to figure which one I was listening to. Perhaps the V6 is 'minutely' smoother and the M3X 'minutely', more detailed.....perhaps. The V6 is a good centimetre longer and is quite large for a DAP that costs about £250. The V6 is very balanced sounding with good battery life
I have a few thousand 128-160Kbps OGG and 128-160Kbps MP3, 44,1Khz files, gathered many, many years ago from the internet, and one especially good feature of the TempoTec V6 is that it replays them on the HiBy music app, extraordinarily well. The TempoTec must have some relationship with HiBy, as they have system-wide MSEB on the unit which makes very usable equalisation. Soundwise for both their price brackets they are excellent. Have not compared to higher end DAP's as I don't have. Used 4.4mm, high gain, IMR Dark Matter, L Spiral Dot tips.
That depends upon the player you install. I have Hiby Music player and Jet Audio installed. With MSEB in Hiby I can get the sound I like. With Jet Audio (plus plugins bought separately) I can tune the sound and have almost any IEMs sound marvelous. From now on I will never buy a DAP without Android. Period.
Maybe your USB-C cable is the fault here? I have a few USB-C cables lying around that don't work with my DACs. They don't have the correct data wiring or whatever. If you find a working USB-C cable the following notification appears then you select any of the Audio In selections.

I use the stock cable. If I connect V6 to my PC when V6 is off, the player shows it's being charged. But when I turn V6 on, there are no signs V 6 is connected to my PC. Where can I find "Use USB to" in the v6 settings?

Some USB cables are really fussy. They have to be connected in a particular direction. Try reversing the position of the cable, so the end plugged into your PC goes to the V6, and vice versa (obviously). If there is something written on the cable, such as V6, that usually indicates that that end should be plugged into your V6.

Just tested with the stock cable and it's working. Are you used to Android devices? Just swipe down from the upper screen edge.
Alternatively you can go to Settings->Connected devices->Default USB configuration->Select Audio In and then reconnect.
The TempoTec V6 is a good sounding DAC, no doubt. I have been using the 4.4mm with the IMR Dark Matter, the Sony XBA N3 4.4mm a.nd the IMR Zenith II 4,4mm, which all sound great. Decided to give 3.5mm a go....but no sound. Just once or twice sound played but faded after a few seconds. Tried many different 3.5 IEM's.....nothing. Reported it to TempoTec, so now we will see how they act as a company. I was a backer of the project so hope they can deal with my situation in the UK so far from China. No doubt some have had some teething problems with the V6....it's all about how TempoTec deal with these initial problems. I did a full factory reset but no change, I would reinstall the firmware but it is not on the TempoTec support site.

Well I feel a bit like Basil Fawlty kicking his car to tell it off and hoping to start it. A big blow down the 3.5mm opening and lo and behold....sound from the 3.5mm....and it sounds excellent at 34, high gain. I have no idea if it will hold up. The V6 is a great sounding DAP with good power, really sounds great, but we'll see as time goes by if QC is good. I hope my 3.5mm stands the test of time and doesn't get dust in the 3.5mm. Seems a little dust and dirt affects it adversely. The IEM I am arbitrarily using is the Blon 01. Cheap as chips and one of the old bargains along with the legendary Blon 03.
Edit
It stopped again but after another blow job it's started playing again. Seems it needs a blow job every-time I use it. I really hope it keeps working as this is an excellent sounding DAP. The 3.5mm is better sounding than 3.5mm on my HiBy R5 and Shanling M3X, the 4.4mm approximately equal on all, maybe the Tempotec is a shade clearer and cleaner 4.4mm. If the QC seems to be good over time, I recommend this DAP for it's 3.5mm output, it is exceptional.

Blowing down the port. It did go off again. It needs an occasional blow. Something is stopping ther connection. Hard to get into a 3.5mm port. If it stops working I might just have to beat it. That's fair because John Cleese showed that a good kick gets things working.
Edit
I think there is something wrong with it, as it goes on and off at the moment. Also something in the signal path stops a track and then I have to press play again. When it's working it is about the best sounding 3.5mm I have got. It still may have to go back as it definitely had a problem with the connection in the 3.5mm port.

I may be wrong but I believe it is bad soldering. I had that on the charging port of my Littlebear B4X, which meant that charging was pot luck, worked sometimes and other times, no charge. I took that to be repaired, and the repairs it needed was soldering. I now have the same with the 2.5mm port on the Littlebear, selective sound output.

So thought I'd try my V6 with 3.5mm, I use the 4.4mm which is fine. Bad news.....no sound, then sound sometimes. I've contacted TempoTec with 2 emails. No response yet. I did manually download the new firmware in case that would solve the problem, problem is I have no idea how to install it. Has anyone got the wireless firmware over air version yet? I guess we will all see if TempoTec do their aftercare service justice or not. I was a backer on Kickstarter because they were looking for funding internationally, so they clearly distribute internationally........ so I hope they have an international system of aftercare set up as they should. We shall see.
