Couldn't find an existing thread for these, unless my search skills are lacking....sorry!

Just picked a pair up and chewed through approx 10 hours of testing so far.

For the money, I'm impressed! Right off the bat, the sound signature is clean and full bodied, not too dissimilar to B&O's signature actually, with no nasties at either end of the frequency range. No bass bloat and no fatiguing mids or highs. A very easy going and pleasant listen indeed :relaxed:

Anyone who remembers Technics from the 80s/90s will know the score. I had a number of their separates back in the day, including their iconic SL1210 turntable.....so welcome back to the fold Technics :raised_hand:

Bass heads may find the low end extension initially a touch light, but simply put, if the bass is there, they reproduce it. There is zero artificial EQ going on here, which is great imo. It's accurate.....put it that way. I hate earphones that over emphasise the bass (Yes you, Sony WF-1000) as it muddies the detail too much for my liking.

They're obviously not quite up to par with the very best, but then again, they are only £239/$250.

Connectivity is quick and smooth sailing (on an iPhone 10 at least) and the 'Technics Audio Connect' app is easy breezy and intuitive.

Daily comfort is spot on. They're light weight and barely noticed in my ears. They're not marketed or sold as a fitness earphone, so don't expect them to stay put with vigorous exercise, but normal day to day movements pose no problems.

I haven't tested the call quality or Alexa/Siri stuff as I'm not interested in that nonsense, but the ANC is on point. Perhaps a shade under Bose/Sony but come on, the difference is so tiny these days, it's not worth mentioning.

I'm not a die hard ear/head phone mega master ninja, but for comparison I do also own B&O E8, B&O wired earphones, B&O H4, B&O H9 latest model, Bose QC and some Denon earphones.

I love my H9s and the best compliment I can give to the Technics is I can switch from the H9s to the Technics for outdoor duties and I do not feel like I am missing anything.

Can't really fault them at all for the money.

Good:

Sound sig: true balance.
There is no peak nor dips. Just a VERY shallow valey @300Hz to be perfect.
Btw, 5band embeded eq which has a band of 310Hz, so easy for whom need it.
Transparent and detail.
Dynamic and fast drive.
Huge stage. Good layering.
Battery last 6h at high volume.

Not good:

Transparent mode, compare to B&o E8 v3 : 6/10
Fat body and heavy (7gr vs 5.6gr of E8).
ANC and Transparent pick up wind noise
Sound sig change when turn off anc or trans (to be less bass diection).

So so:
Touch UI logic, designing, connection.
Technics should copy touch ui from B&O.
For example, Trans mode in E8 will automatic stop music stream to let you hear the ambient while AZ70W still keep music sounding at its volume. You can not hear what you need

For:
Music lovers.

Not for:
Sport lovers.

I am on the fence to buy these for my iPhone SE 2020. I am trying to find an excuse not to buy them actually. It would be for commuting and at the office...
@TYATYA and @fonefan : still happy with these today? Thanks

For using in office? No! It is not so good for in office use.
Reason: Can not fast swiching to hearing mode.
Touching gessture is OFF-> Transparent->ANC->OFF
OFF means none of the modes are active.
Even when Trans mode toggled, it does not stop playing music stream. You have to manualy stop your music (by another touch).
So crazy!

Look for B&O E8v3 if priority using in office. E8v3 has one of the best Transparent mode in both hear-thru quality and the way you interact: one touch when you start hearing office environment(music then auto pause) and touch again when you back to music. Transparent mode of E8v3 makes me sometimes confused I was heaing through a tws or direct hearing.
If give that 10 score then az70w just got 7!

I really do not need fat body of Az70w, its fitting, weight, ANC, but the sound quality.
I just want E8v3 to sounds as like az70w.
Btw i own both.

This is the only forum thread anywhere that I've been able to find anywhere. Hopefully we can get a good discussion going here.

I just picked these up a few days ago,and they're my first wireless earbuds. I have been using Ultimate Ears Triple-Fi 10 IEMs for about 8 years, and another UE IEM before that (can't remember the model). So, those are my two main baselines for comparison.

In terms of noise isolation, these and the Triple-Fi 10s are almost identical (with Comply tips on both). The Triple-Fi's might have a slight edge, but the Technics and the Triple Fi's are very close.

In terms of SQ, this was my main concern and what has kept me away from wireless IEMs for so long. I was pleasantly surprised. These Technics are very capable, once dialed in. Especially with Comply tips. I had to figure out a couple of adjustments on my phone before they really started sounding good, more on that below. I also really appreciate the ambient mode when out walking the dog. I can hear approaching cars, trains, etc. A quick pause tap and I can hear people talking pretty clearly. They feed wind noise through, which is a little annoying, but ambient mode is meant to make outside sounds audible, so I understand why.

A couple of potentially helpful tips to squeeze SQ from these:

1. I looked everywhere before buying these to figure out what Comply tips would fit, and couldn't find any info. So, here you go - the Comply TX-500 tips fit - specifically I have the isolation plus size large TX-500s and they both fit on the earbuds and in the charging case. I've been using Comply tips on my wired IEMs for years, and they really make a perceptible difference over the silicon tips. The TX-500s happen to be the same size that fit the Triple - Fi's, and I had 5 pairs sitting around, so lucky me!

2. This one might be obvious to some, but it was news to me, and made a significant difference, so here goes - I use Poweramp Pro as my music player on my Android phone. It has a pretty good EQ built in, which I use. However, the phone also has EQ settings built in under Settings/Sounds and Vibration/Sound Quality and Effects. If you are using an EQ from your music player app, it's critical to set the all-up phone EQ to completely flat. This makes a significant difference in SQ. These earbuds almost went back until I figured this out. Apparently it was never an issue with my wired IEMs because they can receive 32 bit audio, and the phone EQ is disabled above 16 bit. The Technics buds only take 16 bit, so when the two EQs (phone and music app) were competing with each other, the sound was muffled and muddy. After disabling the phone EQ, they sounded WAY better.

I'll still use my Triple Fi's for critical listening, as they are a bit more detailed. But the convenience of these Technics wireless buds are worth the surprisingly minor tradeoff in SQ in most listening situations.

I use InAir 2 (5.5 to 6.5mm) which seem to last longer than the Comply tips, in my experience at least.

These Technics are a hidden gem that few people have cottoned onto. Until B&O can bother themselves to offer an ANC equipped earphone, these are the next best thing.

Oh really, that’s annoying. I thought Amazon shipped everywhere!
Yes I’ve tried medium and small tips and both fit in the case.

One negative thing about these is battery drain. If not used regularly, both the earphones and case drain completely within a week, even when the earphones are ‘off’.

I’m sure the Sennheiser Momentum was heavily criticised for the same thing.

If you dont know what Wavelet is, look for it on GGplay.

If you have known, stay and wait for AutoEq curve of Az70w.
I manually set parameters like this.
For got all other EQ type, of any apps.
Count on me.

Today Beta version of Wavelet supported Az70W autoeq.

And today, I found these tip of Anker liberty air2 is extremely good for sq.
Much higher resolution and tighness in the sound. No more veil, no more fade away vocal.
Az70w owners, you must know this!

No Wavelet for iOS :slight_frown:
So sad.
But ip, for example Ip6 or 6s (others too) has clean out put with clarity in the mid and tight of bass.
It will be great source IF combine with wavelet.
I found wavelet beyond the good for true wireless, cheap or expensive pairs.

Not yet but 2 things did annoy me with these:

Total battery discharge (case and buds) if left for a few days. No other wireless audio product I own does this.

A significant price drop right after I bought them!

The penalties of early adoption I guess.

I would return yours for replacement or refund.
